Chapter One

Isabella's pov ---

My jaw dropped immediately as I looked at Carrie. "Surrogate? Oh no, I'm in no fashion to have a baby. Nor for anyone else." I said, pushing myself out of the chair.

I looked at Carrie and saw that ridiculous pouty face on her. "Please Iz, it'd really mean a lot to me and Justin." Iz? The heck.

"No Carrie, I can't."

Carrie stood from her desk as I inched my way to her office door. "I mean, we would finance the whole thing and pay for anything that involves the baby. I promise." She nodded.

Oh Isabella, what have you gotten yourself into? Someone come knock some sense into me please.

The sympathy began to kick in as I watched her expressions change from minute to minute. I took a deep breathe before speaking up. "Alright, I will." I nodded. She squealed with happiness and grabbed her iPhone.

"Great! I'll call Justin. Now go back to work, please." She said, giving a polite smile, if that was even possible for her. I excused myself and walked out of her office, shutting the door. I heard her continue to share the good news with Justin and possibly a few more people.

Lord please help me.

I was deep into my work when Carrie came out and strutted over to my desk "I need you to be at Frenchie's restaurant tommorow at five p.m. to meet me and Justin. Got it?" I nodded and grabbed my phone, putting it on my calendar so Siri would remind me.

An hour later, I was headed home. I walked throughout the car garage and found my ruby red Audi 4-door Coupe. It was just my taste, although it compared nothing to Carrie's sparkling silver 2012 Range Rover Sports. New present from Justin. Girl was totally in it for the money, I could even tell you that.

I opened the door of my car and got in, letting the car purr to life before driving out of the exit. A few minutes later, I arrived at my parking garage and parked before getting out and walking to the across the highly flooded street to my apartment building.

"Hey Elm." I said to the desk attendant. He'd become a good friend of mine once I started living here.

I pressed the up button on the elevator and got in, pushing for floor 29. The elevator dinged at my floor and I walked down the hallway, getting my keys out. "Hey Iz!" I heard behind me. I turned around and saw my friend Clarissa. "Hey Clare." I smiled, unlocking my door.

"Wanna come over?" I asked.

She nodded and closed her door after locking it before following me into my apartment.

She welcomed herself to my couch and looked up at me as I set my bag down. "So how was work?"

I shrugged, "Usual. Although something very freaky did happen."

Clarissa looked at me, "Spill."

I began to explain the whole thing to her and it literally left her with her mouth open. "You? Surrogate that devils baby? Oh poor Iz, I feel for you hun."

"Me too...me too"

I went and changed a few minutes after telling Clare a few more things. I slipped into some sweatpants and a tank top before coming out.

Clarissa looked at me and must've saw the look on my face. "Want pizza?" She always knew how to cheer me up. Clarissa and I had known each other for the 7 years we had both lived here. We moved in on the same day and everything, which was weird but good also. And from that day on we have been good friends.

I nodded and tossed her my house phone before laying back on the couch.

------

A few hours later Clarissa left to go to her apartment and I turned to my bed, feeling exhausted. I pulled the blankets over my shoulders and rested my head against my pillow, closing my eyes.

Isabella, what have you gotten yourself into?

How will you part from the baby? Will it be too tough after mothering it for 9 months?

All I knew is that I wanted the baby to be healthy, whether I got to keep it or not. And from the words Carrie said, I won't be keeping the baby.

I hate mother/child ties. It makes it all so harder than what it seems.
