I turned around and eyed the landscape. Nothing... I though to myself as I walked inside the house. Once I walked in the door I remembered I had to go to work. "Ugh," I groaned and made my way to the basement. Most people think that it's weird that my bedroom is a basement and my bed is a couch but it's what happens when your dad is a drunk and your family is basically living off a waitress's salary.

I walked to my dresser and pulled out my uniform, taking off my shirt. Then all of the sudden... BAM! Someone had grabbed me and pushed me over to the wall, pinning me against it. Before I could react, I felt something sharp in my neck. I-Is this thing biting me?!

It took me a minute to realized that the creature was sucking my blood because I started to get light-headed and my vision started to go black at the edges. But before anything really bad happened, the creature pulled away as if it didn't want to kill me. I was shocked to see who and what it was...

Alex?! That guy from the bus!

I could see the blood dripping from his mouth. My blood...
"I..." He started but then stopped as he looked down at me. I just shook my head. I didn't want anything to do with...with what ever he was. I was about to say something but his body crumpled to the ground. "A-Alex!" I yelled frantically and stumbled over to his unconscious body.

I pulled his body over to my bed and laid him down on it before I put a damp washcloth on his forehead. I didn't know what else to do so I just did what I would do if one of my sisters were sick. I looked at him for a second and then grabbed a blanket, laying down on the floor and falling asleep.

Next thing I knew, I was awake on my "bed". I slowly sat up, confused but then I remembered everything. I saw him. He looked at me like a deer in headlights but I was the one who was completely terrified of this...this thing in my bedroom.

"L-Leave.." Is all I could manage to choke out since I was terrified that he was going to sink his teeth back into my neck but this time kill me.

"I'm sorry..." He said quietly. "I won't hurt you again though... Just let me explain myself... Please?" He looked at me with a look that no girl could pass up, except me. "You tried to kill me, what's there to explain." I snapped, looking away from him at the floor.

"I needed to feed and your blood smelled so good... If I don't feed, I die. Or whatever humans call it when you die twice." He told me, keeping his gaze locked on me and only me.

"Why me? What did I do to you?.." I asked, looking at Alex and then looking away again.

"You tasted so good... I couldn't control my hunger." He kneeled down and bowed his head. "I'm sorry."

I don't know what I was thinking but I could tell that he was genially sorry for his actions so I kneeled down next to him and gently rubbed his back to comfort him.
"Please don't hate me... To many people hate what I am... They don't even know me. The real me I mean." He sighed softly.

I stood up and offered him a hand. "Why don't we start over so I can see the real you."
A small smile emerged on Alex's face as he took my hand and pulled himself up. "Okay. Hi, I'm Alex."

"Hi." I replied. "I'm Melissa."
