Sister Imperator is stood at the entrance with open arms and said, "Welcome, Catherine. To the ministry." She walked towards Catherine and they give a hand shake. Catherine tried to be normal but she couldn't do it. Sister noticed and the assistant who helped her informed sister about it, quietly.
Catherine get worried of Sister's opinion. Sister nodded and says, "I understand that you are different and have a hidden disability. That's fine." Catherine puffed out for holding her breath. Sister gently hug Catherine with her arm and they walk to the entrance.
They enter the Ministry and Catherine felt anxious of the unknown place. Sister felt Catherine's shakes and quietly informed the process. "We have services in the Ministry. You however, are going to be a nameless ghoulette. You will meet Cardinal Copia and Papa Nihil for you to be the official member of the clergy. I'll do the talking and you'll be yourself." Catherine let out a sigh of relieve and nod to Sister as a thank you.
They got to the dormitory, there is seven beds and there are three nameless ghouls on their beds. Catherine took deep breaths and Sister announced to the ghouls. "Everyone! Meet Catherine. She is the new nameless ghoulette. And she is shy. So, make her feel at home and make sure she doesn't get stressed." Catherine slightly smiled and Sister left the dorm.
The ghouls stood up from the beds and walked to Catherine. She still tried to speak, but she's scared. One ghoul said, "Welcome to your new home. You be okay, once you get used to it." She nods and the second ghoul grabbed the suitcase. She wasn't sure what he was doing and he says, "I'm just moving the suitcase to your bed here." He strongly lifts the suitcase onto the bed by the window. She slowly walked towards the bed and sat on it.
She got her iPod out, put her earphones on and blast the music on. One ghoul carefully rubs her back for comfort and she took deep breaths.
Then, her eye pain returned. She grips her eye tight and squint her eyes tight. Ghouls jumped of her sudden scream and one of them asked her, "Are you okay? Do you need something to ease of the pain?" She nods and he quickly took off to get something. She gently rubbed her eye and as she pulled her hand off, there is blood. She panicked and shrieked. The ghoul returned with a glass of water and a couple of pain killers. Both ghouls freaked out and the ghouls quickly grab the towels to help her from the bleeding. They got the towels and pressed it on her eye. She pants in shock and started crying. The ghouls give her a group hug and one of them said, "All of us will help you in any way." She smiled and hug them back.
An hour later, the ghouls and ghoulettes help Catherine into her ghoul uniform and the special mask for her. She thought that she would like the ghouls, but somehow, she got something different.
As she put the mask on, she fits her. No glue, no elastic, nothing. Somehow, magic does it. The mask is like from a masquerade ball, but in silver and with horns like the ghouls have. The ghoulette brush off the dust from Catherine's shoulders, hug her from behind and said, "You look amazing, sweetie. You are one of us now." Catherine smiled and nodded.
A knock on the dorm door and Sister Imperator entered. "You look wonderful, dear. Let's go and meet Cardinal and Papa." Catherine nodded and follow Sister out of the dorms.
The sound of echoed footsteps makes Catherine nervous. They stop by the tall double doors. Sister turned to Catherine and said, "Okay. Here is what we are doing. Cardinal and Papa is on the other side of the door long away. I'll go first to them, inform your arrival and about yourself. Then, I'll call you in and the clergy will open the door for you. You'll enter and be yourself. Cardinal doesn't mind about you being different, but Papa don't. So, be careful of his words. And don't worry, I'll be there with you. Okay?" Catherine nodded nervously and Sister whispered before she goes, "Good luck."
The clergy opened the doors and Sister entered. They close it and Catherine heard Sister's footsteps as it gets quieter. She gets nervous and took deep breaths. She heard faint chattering from the other side of the door. Five minutes later, she heard Sister loud and clear, "Cardinal and Papa. Meet Catherine. The new nameless ghoulette." The clergy opened the door, Catherine took few deep breaths and slowly walking towards them.
Catherine looked ahead and saw Sister Imperator, Papa Nihil and Cardi. She got excited that she is gonna meet Cardi for the very first time. She stopped by a foot and continue taking deep breaths to calm herself.
Papa with his arms crossed stared at Catherine while she can't make eye contact. He was uncertain about her. He turned to Sister and said, "You brought me this thing, sister? You cannot be serious." Sister turned her head to Papa and replied, "Yes, Papa. She is a great performer and musician. She is special." Catherine started to feel the panic in her mind and Cardi slowly walk toward her. "Are you okay?" She nods. "Nervous?" She nods again.
As Sister and Papa walked away from Cardi and Catherine, Cardi talked to her. "I know that it's hard to be here and it's a big change. When I was becoming a frontman, I wasn't sure about it. But, look at me now. I'm a sexy man who is funny." She smiled and quietly giggled. He holds her face with his hand and whispered, "Look at me." She shook her head. He doesn't understand by what she meant, but continued whispering. "Okay, listen. I know how it feels to be in an unknown place. But you can feel like home for few weeks. Sister told me everything about you. You should be proud of being here, with us." She began to shake in nervousness and sadness. Cardi instantly hug her and she started to cry. He holds her tight and whispered, "If you want to talk to me, tell sister and she'll get my attention." She smiled slightly and mouthed quietly, "Thank you, Cardi." He blinked few times and kissed her forehead.
Sister and Papa returned and Cardi let go. "Remember that. Okay?" Cardi whispered and she nodded. Cardi turned and walked to Papa and Sister. Papa lifted his head high and huffed in slight misery, "Well, I guess that you are the official member of the Ministry of Ghost." Catherine nodded and as she about to leave, Papa added the greater news. "And, we also make you a Head Ghoulette." Catherine gasped of the better news. She began to cry of happiness. Cardi rushed to her and hug her tight. Papa shook his head Cardi's actions. Sister walked to Catherine, put her hand on Catherine's shoulder and said, "Welcome aboard, Head Ghoulette."
They let her go, Catherine tapped Sister's shoulder and make a charade of writing something down. Sister understood and pulled out a pen and notepad from her jacket pocket. Catherine nodded as a sign of thank you and started writing down of a suggestion. She finished writing and shown them what she wrote, "How about calling me Pride as a nickname? It's one of the seven deadly sins and I used it a lot throughout my life." They turned their heads at each other and Papa spoke first, "Is she going to destroy the clergy with that?" Cardi got a eureka moment and replied Catherine's idea. "That is a great idea. I call my ghouls and ghoulettes those names and with you being the Head Ghoulette, a nickname will do it." Catherine smiled, bowed her head and slightly fiddled her hair.
Sister nodded and said to Catherine, "We'll talk about it and you can celebrate with your fellow ghouls and ghoulettes. You may go." Catherine bowed her head once more and walk away.
Cardi and Sister smiled and Papa huffed again. "Now, let focus on the task in hand." They nod and he continued. "How can that girl do the responsibility of the ghouls' performances?" Sister cleared her throat and replied, "She is the best example. We have heard from the clergy that she's good at remembering the songs and how it goes. They were got an eye of her for a few years." Papa's eyes were wide open of surprise like cartoon eyes. "Now you telling me that. She is not that special." Cardi shook his head and said, "Don't say that, Papa. She is different and unique. Think about it." But Papa wouldn't budge his thinking. Cardi left and Sister got close to Papa.
As Cardi gone, Sister whispered, "It's not for you to decide her fate. She is willing to do as she asked in a simple way." Papa make his face look evil and whispered back, "We'll see about that, Sister." He back straightened and walk away.
Sister huffed through her nose and returned to her duties for the rest of the day.
