[misterios are secrets]

"What do you mean that includes Mark?"

Yuta sighed, "I think what Simon means is that Mark is a threat."

I run my fingers through my hair out of frustration. How could Mark be a threat to me? It's not like he's imposed any threats? But I do recall his malicious tone during the seventh day of Simon's game.

Could he really put me in danger?

The school bell rang and I packed my stuff to leave. The conversation with Yuta remained in my mind. What exactly is Mark capable of?

"Jiwoo!" I felt a pair of arms wrap around my shoulders.

I stop in my tracks.

"Oh, sorry. I forgot."

Mark waddled to my side and proceeded with me. We continued in silence until he took my hand, "Come with me!"

We had been running for what had felt like hours until we reached a building. It was bright and colorful. I looked around and saw many couples and I became concerned about Mark's intentions. There was a big sign that read "MARBLE SLAB." I heard that this place has good ice cream. Truly, ice cream does sound good right about now.

"Do you remember this place..."

I glanced at Mark who was marveling at the parlor.

"Of course you don't. Anyways, this is where it all started. Where we met for the first time."

"And why did you bring me here?"

He paced towards the door, "I told you I would help you remember me."

"That statement low key did not answer my question. It was kind of vague—"

"Just get in the goddamn parlor."

I saluted, "Yes sir!"

Mark found me a booth and proceeded to order ice cream for us. When he came back, he handed me a pointy black cone. Inside was a depressing, yet interesting mass of black ice cream. And to make it less gloomy, rainbow sprinkles sat on top of the doom melting dessert.

I inquiry, "Uhm... why does my ice cream contrast with the entire theme?"

Mark grinned, "Well, it's black because of the activated charcoal ingredients. And it was your favorite."

"I would eat this?" I point towards the cone.

"Don't question. Just enjoy."

I studied the dessert in my hand. Why would anyone put charcoal in ice cream? I mean, it's just a waste of time, and you don't know what flavor it is.

"Will this stain my–

"I'll stain your mouth with mine if you don't eat it." He smirked.

Without hesitation I poked the ice cream with my tongue, afraid to taste. My eyes widened out of satisfaction. The flavor is nothing you would expect from its appearance.

I glanced at Mark, "Is this what I think it is?"

I continued to attack the sweet with enthusiasm. I hadn't even realized I had eaten to the cone.

"If you mean coffee caramel, then yes."

My favorite flavor.

Laughs and words were exchanged, all laced with gaiety. He told me much about our past here. I got to know more about the person whom I should already know.

"Wait, wait... So you're telling me you would do that to get my attention? And I liked it?" I say with disgust, "That sounds too cliche and lovey dovey in my opinion."

Mark chuckled, "I'm telling you, you always knew what you liked."

Mark and I practically trotted all the way home. He insisted on taking me back, so I didn't refuse.

We had made it to my doorstep and Mark started, "Well, I hope today inched you closer to recollecting."

I smiled, "I hope so too..."

I signaled Mark off and he proceeded to walk backwards. I guess he wants to see me walk in.

I turned and entered my house. Everything seemed normal. I knew Mom wasn't home because she always works late.

I went up to my room and felt my soul leave my body. When I opened the door, Yuta was lounging on my bed. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?!"

"Uhm, protecting you. Did we not establish that earlier... or...?" He asked unconcerned.

"WELL YOU DIDN'T TELL ME YOU WERE GOING TO BE AT MY HOUSE."

Yuta shrugged, "It was implied."

I sighed and put my bags down. I huffed as I sat at my desk, "So you're going to follow me around until Simon says to stop? And that includes sleeping in my bedroom?"

Yuta crossed his legs, "He did tell me I had to be in the same room as you. But I'm not sleeping in your bed... unless you want me to?"

"Nope. I'm good, thank you very much."

He sighed, "Suit yourself."

There was an awkward silence between us. It only lasted a few minutes, but I had to break it again. "Are you going to shower... or...?"

"Oh no, I'm all set for the night. I just have to make sure you're safe."

I nod.

I gathered my things to take a shower and get ready for bed. I still find it weird that Simon made Yuta my "personal bodyguard." And, on top of that, made it a rule that he has to be in the same room as me.

I came back to my room and saw Yuta asleep in my desk chair. I thought, "He's supposed to protecting me, and he's sleeping." I chuckled softly.

I crawled into my bed and felt my body relax. I began to wonder,
"How good of a bodyguard can he be?"
