I was sitting in class minding my own business and listening to people gossiping. I was nervous. My famous best friend is coming back from Hollywood today. I kept glancing at the clock, nervously biting my lip. Thats when the door opened. People were whispering now. Girls were pulling their skirts up and shirts down leaving nothing to imagine and boys were giving the person jealous glares.

I finally looked up to see my best friend, Blake, strutting down the aisle to the seat in front of mine. He had his sunglasses on, black leather jacket around his shoulders, and  his jeans tucked in his biker boots. In Hollywood he was known to be the "bad boy."

When he sat down he turned and looked at me. I starred at him back.

"Mia," he finally said after spending 5 minutes looking at each other, "I missed you so much."

"I missed you too, Blake," I replied. "Its been years."

"Yeah it has, but I gotta tell you something," he said nervously.

"Yeah and I know what you want," I replied. "You don't want to be friends anymore."

He looked at me silently and nodded quickly.

"I hope you understand Mia," he simply states.

"Oh I understand plenty. I understand you just threw a lifetime of friendship in the trash because you are famous. You want to be seen with jocks and cheerleaders and not loner Mia who, by the way, helped you get famous in the first place. Mia the girl who was there when your dad died. The girl who gave you excellent girl advice and the girl you made a promise to before you went off to go get famous."

I realized that everybody was listening to our conversation and I was standing now. I gathered my stuff and stood up.

I walked to the door of the room and opened it. I quickly turned around and looked Blake in the eyes, "You are a coward Blake and I hope you live with this regret until you get your priorities straight."

I turned and walked out the class room and to my locker. I grabbed my helmet and keys and walked to the parking lot. I walked to my motorcycle and jumped on. I started it up, put my helmet, and raced out of the school parking lot. Blake isn't  the only one who has changed.

I walked into the gym. This is where I come to let out some steam, anger. I have a lot of built up anger throughout the years. My parents died and now I live on my own with my older brother, Jace, who is 27 years old and is a firefighter for this low key town. All my friends ditched me because they thought I have changed and now they try to bully me. Emphasis on try. Yep I'm loner Mia, the girl everybody stays away from like the plague. But they do place bets on me when i'm fighting.

I'm a boxer and this gym is my territory. I walked down the halls to the ladies locker room. I go to my locker and set everything in there and grabbed my boxing stuff out. I changed into basketball shorts and a sports bra. I taped up my hands, grabbed my gloves and walked to the boxing arena. Ashville is known for boxing so a lot of scouts come down here from time to time. They asked me if I wanted to go pro but Jace said no because he wants me to go to college before signing up for something like that. I understood why and I declined.

I walked up to a punching bag and started taking my anger out on it. Stupid Blake, stupid people period. Thoughts were runningg through my head. The night my parents died, the day Blake left, Blake breaking his promise. I kept punching the bag and I don't know how long I stayed at the gym.

After a while I felt someone hold the punching bag making my hits softer.

"I knew I'd find you here," my brother said.

"Sorry," I said quietly, still punching the bag.

"Wanna go get something to eat, I put your bike in the bed of my truck."

"Yeah," I replied and stopped punching. "Let me go get my stuff and get dressed."

He nodded and exited the arena.

I went to go get ready. I quickly put a shirt on, grabbed my stuff and went to the parking lot. I walked to my brother's truck and hopped in, throwing my stuff in the back.

We drove in silence to the diner by our house. When he parked we jumped out and headed in the diner. I quickly took off my boxing tape and threw it in the trash outside.

When we enteted people went quiet. I don't blame them. My brother and I are well known in this town and people are scared of us even though my brother is a firefighter he has a big, bad reputation.

What can I say, small town, big problems.

My brother and I found a secluded booth in the back, away from ease droppers.

"You saw him today," Jace stated.

"Yeah,", I answered shortly.

"What happened?"

"I broke things off before he did. My anger was rising and I didn't want to hurt him, so I walked out and rode to the gym. Guess I was in there for awhile," I explained to him, looking at the darkening sky.

He nodded his head in acknowledgement. Thats when the waitress came over and put our meal down.

"Thank you Pattie," Jace said and I nodded in thanks.

"No worries sweetie pies," she replied. "Y'all are welcomed here anytime."

Pattie is the only one who isn't scared of us because she used to watch us when we were kids. I heard the diner door open. I look up and see Blake with the "cool kids" from school.

"This should be entertaining," Jace sais smugly.

I narrowed my eyes at him.
