Only seconds pass before another two cars with flashing lights fly past us. The boys already took off in the opposite direction, and are now blurry figures in the distance. Crystal and I make eye contact before a cop steps out of the parked car.
"Do you know those boys?" he asks, spitting a little with every word.
"N-no. I don't think so, I mean they could go to our school, but I do-" I stop rambling when I feel Crystal's elbow connect with my rib. "Sorry." I mumble.
"We don't know them. We had just finished shopping and they were walking behind us, probably to their own car." I stare at my friend wide-eyed, wondering how the hell she can she can lie effortlessly to a cop but can't talk infront of our class.
"Well, if you see them again call this number," he hands me a card. "Don't go looking for those kids; they stole alot o' stuff today. They could be dangerous." He walk back to his car and drives away. I force myself to look down at the card and see the only ten numbers I'd want to in this situation.
"Is that..." Crystal peeks over my shoulder, squinting at the number.
"No! I mean, it can't be. Why would a completely different cop hand out the Sheriff's card?" I refuse o believe that the sheriff would be a pert of this. "The boys aren't that bad. Sure, some ditching, vandalising and maybe some parties got out of hand, but does the sheriff need to get involved?"
"That guy did say that they stole alot," My friend's blue eyes squeeze shut as she pinches the bridge of her nose. "Let's not be a part of this, okay? All Julien, Logan and the others do is couse trouble. This is drama and I do not want any part of it."
"Says the girl who loves Logan Anderson. Your heart's going to hurt when he throws it back on his 'shelf'." I stop lnow that I hit a soft spot. Crystal's eyes start to glisten with tears and I realize how much of a jerk I am. "Crys-"
"No I know. I'm stupid to be obsessed with Logan, but I need to face that," She swallows back the tears and continues. "And you need to face the fact that they are trouble and protecting them could get in into bigger trouble with your dad." Crystal was right, my dad is important to this town and his job causes him to take the law very seriously. At that point my thoughts have filled with one word; julian...Julian... JULIAN... I need to find him.
"I forgot to check a store." I blurt out.
"Okay, lets go. What stor-"
"No i'll go alone. My mom will pick me up anyway." I try to sound as convincing as possible.
"Sure. I'll call you later." Crystal walks off confused and almost... hurt.
It was a long walk home but it was worth it. Walking helped me think and thinking helps me figure out wht the best thing to do is but now I just wanted to clear my head. I step through the front door and am imediantly called into my dad's office. I walk in and look at the piles and piles of paperwork on his desk..again.
"Hey dad."
"Hello Briana. There is something I wanted to talk to you about." That's my dad for you all work and no play. No "How was your day?" or "Did you want to go out tonight?" A movie? No. A nice dinner? Without coworkers? Never.
I sit in the leather chair across from the oak desk and examine his desk one more time. My eyes stop at the gold plaque that has sat there for years and I read the letters engraved. With all of today's events fresh in my mind; those two words, that now seem so foreign, make my body go numb with worry for the boys. For Julian.
Sheriff Hart.

Julian's POV
Breathing heavy, I stop and lean against a brick building and look around. I'm surrounded by busy streets and tons of buildings. I pull my beat up iPhone out of my sweatpants pocket, cursing when I notice how trashed it really was. Scrolling through my contacts, I pause when I land in the "B's": Briana. I suddenly think of her long brown curls and stormy grey eyes, she'slike a sister to me but I have to admit that she isn't that bad looking. As quick as it came, I shake the thought out of my head and keep scrolling. Logan.
"Dude! When on quite the run, did ya'?" My best friend answers in a mocking tone.
"Ya, ya,ya. Where the hell are you, idiot?" I have no time for this; I need to run.
"At my house, we're on TV by the way. Channel 8. They caught us at a terrible angle by the way, really unflattering-"
"Shut up! How are you home right now? You do realize that if they find out who you are and what we did, they are going to throw you behind bars and you can have your unflattering face posted on your mug shots all over town?"
"Chill out would you please? Nobody will find your unflattering face OR my unflattering face anywhere, okay?" I had to laugh, Logan had no way of being serious but this was slightly amusing. I trusted him enough to hang up. I needed to get out of here.
