In the beginning, there were the Titans. The Titans were the children of Uranus, Gaea, and their decendents. There were twelve original Titans, the brothers Oceanus, Coeus, Crius, Hyperion, Iapetus, and Cronus, and the sisters Thea, Rhea, Themes, Mnemosyne, Phoebe, and Tethys. At the instigaition of Gaea rebelled against their father who had shut them up in the underworld, Tartarus. While under the leader ship of Cronus they dethrowned Uranus and made Cronus their leader. But Zeus, one of Cronus' sons, rebelled against Cronus causing bloodshed, in which most of the Titans sided with Cronus. After then years of war Zeus and his brothers and sisters defeated the Titans. The Titans were then imprisoned in a cavity beneath Tartarus.
