Your POV

"I really like this," Shawn said to me as he held the written lyrics I had given him in his hands.

"I might change a few things here and there, but other than that I love this song."

"Really?" I asked. "I wasn't really sure if you'd like it."

"Why?" He asked. "It's totally my style."

"I don't know," I said. "Someone suggested I send it to you and I was just a little hesitant."

"Is this about what happened?" He asked with a laugh. "Y/n, that was like four years ago."

"I know," I said with a groan. "I just wasn't sure if you'd want to hear from me again."

"Hey, you were my friend, and you still are my friend. Honestly, I should be thanking you," he said, which confused me.

Why would he thank me for stealing his girl?

"If you and Camila hadn't gotten together then I probably would've asked her out, and now I can see how bad of an idea that would've been," he laughed. "We totally wouldn't have worked out, and then we might not be as good of friends as we are now."

"Soooo..." I trailed off. "We're still friends?"

"Yes," he laughed. "We are still friends, and I would love to record this song."

"Awesome," I said. "Make sure you send me the finished version. I'm excited to see what you do with it."

"I definitely will," he told me as he stood up. "My album is just about done. I'm just looking for a few pieces to tie everything together. I think this will be one of them."

"That's really exciting," I told him as we started walking out together.

"I'll have my guys send over the paperwork for the percentage you'll get for the song," he explained.

"Oh, no rush," I waved him off. "Make sure you get the actual album part worked out before you worry about any of that."

"It was really good seeing you again," he told me as we got to the door.

"Yea, I really enjoyed catching up," I said honestly. "Stay in touch, yea?"

"I will," he smiled as he gave me a hug, his much larger frame basically engulfing me.

"You stay in touch too, and if you ever need anything you have my number. Don't hesitate to call," he said sternly. "Don't be a stranger."

"I won't. Promise," I smiled.

"Alright," he said. "See you around."

"Told you he'd be over it."

I jumped at the unexpected voice.

"Lauren?" I asked. "How long have you been standing there?"

"I just got here," she laughed. "Relax."

"You scared me you little shit," I said, slapping her arm. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to see if you wanted to grab lunch. I didn't expect you catch you and Mendes in the middle of a heart to heart," she teased.

"It wasn't a heart to heart," I waved her off. "I gave him the song and we caught up."

"So, you took my advice?" She asked.

"Yes," I rolled my eyes. "I took your advice."

"Wow. That's a first," she teased. "I'm proud of you."

"Thanks," I said with a small smile.

"We should celebrate. Let me take you to lunch," she said, grabbing my hand and leading me out to her car, not really giving me a choice.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Where do you think?"

"In-N-Out."
