For those of you that started reading this because felt like it was calling you, sit down and listen to everything I have to say. For those of you that think this is just a fictional story, I'm glad you are able to enjoy a normal life, because not all of us in this world are. So sit down and enjoy the ride, because it is going to get crazy.

My full name is Mason Alexander Harris Jr., but people just call me Alex. I was named after my dad, former Marine, Secrete Service, and other things he never told my family about. There were many secrets my father had that I have not been able to come to grasp until now. See there are people in this world that might not agree with everything that goes on. Some of those people sit back, and some of the people fight for it. Most are normal people, but not all. There are people in this world that can do amazing things, and I am not talking about your everyday freak. Some people have powers, and some use them for good, while others use them for evil. Like I said, if you felt this book was calling to you, sit down and listen close, because they could be after you. I’m Alex Harris, and this is my story.

It had been happening for as long as I could remember. My dad would leave, come back, and then leave again. I did not know where he was going, nor did I really care, until I was older that is. I don’t really remember when the switch flipped from just wanting the souvenirs to actually wondering where my dad was. Of course he never told me. Looking back, there were a lot of things that he never told me. It’s rough being the son of Mason Harris, the man that saved the world. I felt like everything was pinned on my shoulders. I remember the last conversation I had with him before the accident,

“When will you be back dad?” I had asked him.

“You see son, that’s always a mystery. Sometimes it could take a day, sometimes it could take me months. What you need to know is that I will love you no matter what happens to me.” It was the normal speech he gave me before he left. I was 13 at the time.

“I know dad, you always tell me that, and things always turn out fine. Like people say, ‘You’re Mason Harris, you can overcome anything!’” I knew what he was going to say next. No matter what I told him or how many times I asked him to stay, he always left me with the same words,

“Stay strong Mase,” He was the only one to call me that, “Because one day when I’m gone, you’ll take my place, and will be just as great. You have great potential, and no matter what happens, I will be proud of the man that you will be.” It was the same thing every time. Then he hugged me and walked out the door. I was left with my aunt and uncle. Not knowing that that would be the last time I would ever talk to my dad.

School had just gotten out and I was on my way to football practice. It had been a pretty bad day. All day I had a horrible headache, I failed test after test, got in trouble, and embarrassed myself in front of the girl of my dreams. Her name is Abigail, and she is the most beautiful thing in the world. I know I will have a chance with her. She is the cheer captain for the football team, and is not the smartest. But I didn’t care, I loved her anyways. I was the reciever for the football team, and in charge of catching all the touchdowns for the team. Today I sucked it up. There was no possible way I could have played any worse. I missed just about every pass that was thrown to me. The team was fed up with me. I had no idea why I was playing so badly. Maybe it was because I knew that today was the day that my dad would finally be back from his trip. It had been six months since I had talked to him last, since he last told me to be strong. I kept reliving the conversation in my head and wrote it down so that I would never forget it.

After practice I waited outside the school in the brickyard for my best friend in the world, Kelsie. Our parents have been friends for as long as I can remember. We always walked home together. We lived in the same apartment; I was on the first floor and her family was on the second. She was not much smaller than be and is just about as pretty as one could get. I told her everything. When she was done with her studying at school, we started to walk home.

“How was practice?” she asked me.

“I completely sucked it up.”

“So it was a normal practice for you?” she said in a joking attitude. No matter what mood I was, I could always count on her to cheer me up.

“Ha-ha you’re so funny.” I told her sarcastically. And that’s when I got the phone call. Hello Moto

“Hello?” It was my aunt. “Honey I need you two to come home right now.”

“What’s going on, is everything okay?” I asked her.

“Sweetie it’s your dad. He’s been in an accident.”
