CHAPTER 7

"Nico?" Several voices chorused on the battlefield. The son of Hades grinned, and at that moment a portal opened. From the portal poured hundreds of thousands of short, armored figures. They wore armor from head to toe and were wielding various dangerous looking weaponry.

"For the Gods and the universe!" Nico yelled.

"For the Gods and the universe!" The armored children screamed, and charged. Steve stared in horrified awe as the children fought valiantly. Despite their age, they had near perfect fighting technique and fared surprisingly well against the strange alien creatures.

Nico slipped an old Avenger comm in.

"Hey guys!" Nico grinned, "This thing still active?"

"Who is this?" A girl - Wanda - asked.

"Nico Di Angelo, founding Avenger." Nico replied, "I left shortly after the Chitauri invasion. Heard things got pretty hectic."

"Did you find a cure for Loki?" Natasha asked.

Nico winced, "Loki's dead. Thanos killed him."

"Now's not the time for mourning." Steve spoke up, "Nico, why did you bring children into this?"

Nico sighed, "These are my family. They know what they're doing."

There were several choking sounds, and a new voice spoke up, "Holy cow!" Falcon cried, "You've got what? 15 hundred thousand cousins?"

"When you put it that way it sounds weird. Only brothers and sisters really count as family though... Only siblings share the same DNA. Don't ask me how that works. I'm not too knowledgeable on our exact biology."

"Where are the parents?" Steve asked, concerned.

Nico snorted, "Steve, I know you're worried, but our parents make us fight monsters and creatures that regular humans can't see on a daily basis. Saving the world was our job eons before it was yours."

There was a silence, "Who are your guy's parents?"

"Mine? Maria Di Angelo and Hades, Lord of the Underworld. Every child you see fighting is related to the Greek or Roman gods."

"..."

"And I thought Thor was shocking." (Author's note: pun definitely intended)

"There's Egyptian too."

"GUYS!" Bruce shouted, "As interesting as this is, let's do a little less talking and a lot more fighting!"

Nico smirked. It was good to be back.

The shadows exploded around him, lashing out. The creatures - Outsiders - roared at him and charged. Nico summoned his shadow armor, and went into battle.
