Thomas is in town all day today. He gave Esmae and I way more chores then I can get done. I know he gave us extra because he knows I can't get it all done and then he has a reason to ve mad. I've been working hard all morning and actually got pretty far. I would probably be able to finish or at least almost finish, but I need to check on Esmae every half hour or so. Esmae better get better soon...... I'm really worried about her. She needs to get better. I need her and I don't know what I'd ever do without her.
Thomas just got home. The red belt mark on my thigh has changed from bright red to dark purple and I fresh red strip now covers my back. It seems that everytime something starts to geg better for me something else comes and makes it worse. I've been reading lately. I haven't gotten much time in between chores and Esmae but I've found my own time. Reading books always makes me sad. Stories about happy girls with happy families. My parents took one look at me and threw me down the river in a barrel. I guess I am lucky Thomas found me and took me in. I'm not sure how Esmae got into this mess. Thomas has never told us. One day she just showed up and Thomas said she was now working for us.
