Ice Cold Heart

Chapter 5

Sam walked up the ramp and he came to a huge pool. He looked around and there looked like there was places to sit in it. He frowned and got closer to it and then the smell of salt hit his nose. It reminded him of La Push beach and as he neared the edge of the pool he saw a tail. In the water was a freaking mermaid! It was a mermaid and he blinked. He neared the edge of the pool and when he closer he saw it was Rayne. He was pretty shocked to see it was her and then she surfaced.

 Nerissa sighed and her brother went to get them food. She swam up to the surface and she froze when she a human. She gasped and looked at him with wide eyes. She shook her head and the fear was clear on her face. She was frozen there and didn't know what to do. What did she do? The only human who saw her true form was him and well he died.

 "Your a mermaid?" Sam asked and he didn't know what else to say. Nerissa blinked a few times and regained her composure.

 "No I am a fucking fairy! What do you think?  " Nerissa snapped and looked at him.

 "Woah...I am sorry."

 "Don't ask stupid questions then."

 " Ok....how...how is this possible? I saw you on land!"

 "Simple I can get legs. All I wanna do is live a peaceful life among humans yet your kind seems to always try to mess with what they don't understand."

"My kind? So your just grouping us all together in one group."

" Shouldn't I? Humans only destroy our way of life!" 

 "I won't hurt you! I won't let anything hurt you!"

 " How can I trust you! All humans do is hurt us!"

"I am not gonna hurt you! You can trust me!"

"How can I trust you? Huh?" 

 "Because...god this hard to explain. Can you just trust me? Take a leap of faith! Not all humans are bad!" 

"I..." Nerissa started and for some reason she wanted to trust him. She bit her lip and looked at him. "I will trust you." She said and she heard footsteps. She knew them all to well and it was Kito. She looked up at him and pulled herself up. She looked over at him. "Hurry get out of here! Run! If he finds you it won't end well!" She said and then he appeared.

 "WHO ARE YOU!" Kito said and Nerissa looked up at him. She needed to get the human out and she waved her hands. In seconds it hit Kito giving him a tail and she looked up at the human.

"RUN!" She said and Sam looked at her. "HURRY!" She said and her tail was no replaced by legs. 

 "I won't leave you!" He said and she glared. She tried to stand up and her feet gave out from under her. 

"Damnit! Run!" She screamed and he shook his head. She saw Kito raise his hands. "NOO!" She screamed and she managed to get up. She ran towards the human and shoved him out of the way. In seconds she was flung back into the water. She hit it with a loud splash. 

Sam was shoved to the side and he never excepted her to have such strength. He even stumbled and he looked over to glare at her and he watched in horror. Rayne was flung into the water and he screamed. He took off towards the water and dove into the water to save her. He didn't care what she was and to him she was his imprint. He was going to save her and he swam over to her. He grabbed her arm and swam up.

Nerissa had changed when she hit the water and not even a minute later she heard a splash. She looked up and the human was swimming towards her. He jumped in the water for her and even brought her up to the surface. He could die and yet he risked it all for her. She didn't understand and what was she to him??

"You...you dove in the water for her? You could of died!" Kito said in shock and looked at Sam.

" You know some people are worth dying for." Sam said and Nerissa blinked. What was this guy saying? They barely knew one another and he was willing to die for her.

 "She isn't like you at all!"

 "I don't care! Love knows no bounds. "

" Love?"

 "Yes! I don't care what she looks like or the fact she has a tail. Why should I? Its just a tail and that's all!" Sam said and he look both of the mermaids back. 

 "Who are you?" Nerissa finally asked and she looked up at him. Tilting her head to the side.

 "I am Sam." He said and she looked at him like he had 3 heads.

 "Why do you care about me hmm?" She asked and he smiled at her.
