My arm is looped through hers, as we race to the ticket booth. Happy shrieks and screams echo around us. Lights blink and flash, games whirl, and metal grinds again metal.
We get in line for the Tilt-n-Whirl, watching as the sky turns black and the lights pop. We get on the ride, sitting still in anticipation.
Then the ride starts, twisting and whirling. It screeches like a giant metal bird. It wrenches us back and forth and up and down. Then it stops as suddenly as it started, forcing us to fight the dizziness and stand.
After many rides, we hit the games. Bells tinged, balloons exploded, and lights blinked bright enough to cause a seizure. The dart games were my strong point, my darts fly straight, popping balloons on impact. Her power is basketball games, nothing but net in blinding speed.
The smell of fair food drifts on the night wind making us hungry.
A bag of mini doughnuts, popcorn, and cotton candy later we join the line for the Ferris Wheel. The carnival below is a picture of controlled chaos. Lights dance, music blares, and people like ants go from place to place.
It is peaceful yet crazy.
