"Freya?" you asked. Thor had led you to your room so you two could talk more intimately.
"Yes. The Norse Goddess of Love. Well, love, lust, war, death, magic - you know, lots of things. I feel a connection to you in some way and I think that's it. You're Asgardian,"
"No."
"No?"
"It doesn't make sense. I'm not thousands of years old, I'm hardly considered an adult, I have student loans, little money in my bank account and anxiety." Thor smiled at your reasoning.
"Has anything spectacular or life-threatening happened to you? Nothing like a car accident or winning the lottery, something unearthly," Thor asked.
"Um. A few years ago I helped a woman who had been stabbed. She was laying outside my house, in sort of crater I guess. I helped her in and called an ambulance but then she told me not to...she started bleeding gold and talking in a different language so I went to get a towel but when I came back she was gone. Like she had just turned into dust." Your story supported Thor's hypothesis.
Freya was rumoured to have a relationship with many other Gods within Asgard. When her husband discovered this, he exiled her with Heimdall's sword, ultimately slashing her front and sending her away to a random realm through the Bifrost.
"So...I have the essence of a Norse Goddess inside of me?" you asked Thor, who nodded and shrugged.
"I mean we have no proof other than your powers, I doubt her soul lives on inside of you." Thor's words sounded dull now.
"Did you know her?" you asked. Thor sat on your bed so you joined in.
"I was...I was responsible for her exile," he cleared his throat, not wanting to show any tears, "her husband Odr caught us in her chambers one day; struck me down and threw her out into deep space. I never thought I'd...well I guess I'll never really see her again but I certainly never expected to connect with her in some way."
"Is infidelity common in Asgard?" you half-joked.
"Oh yes. Some Gods are off-limits though. I guess I couldn't help myself. No one could with Freya," Thor wasn't looking at you anymore. Part of him thought he was only attracted to you because he thought you were his ex-lover but you didn't share her personality. Freya was wild in spirit, too wild. That's what ended up killing her. You were much more cautious, of course, you needed to be considering human emotions can overshadow one's logic.
Thor was worried when you realised Nat would do anything for you but sighed with relief when you put her interests above yours. He knows you have power and he's happy that you're humble about it.
"I think this is information we should tell Strange. He works with science and magic, perhaps he can extract...her," it was weird to think someone's spirit was living inside of you.
"Can I just- can I do something quickly? As a test," Thor was shaking, more nervous than he has ever been.
"Sure."
He exhaled and cupped your cheek first looking into your eyes, but it didn't feel like he was searching for you. He was looking for any sign of her. Any golden glint or even a tiny little woman hiding in your pupil. He found nothing but liked that you trusted him with such an intimate moment.
Then he scratched your arm.
"Ow! What the fuck?" you cursed and pushed him away forcefully. "Why did you do that?!" You crouched over in pain.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I just needed to see,"
"See what?" it was only a scratch so there wasn't that much blood but it wasn't red.
"That." Thor picked up a tissue and dabbed the rosy gold liquid.
"What is that?"
"That's your blood. You have royalty and riches running through your veins," Thor's eyes lit up, ecstatic at his discovery. You, on the other hand, didn't know how to feel. "That's why humans don't know how to act around you. They want to perform your every order without question, they want you to love them because they already love you unconditionally."
"Let's talk to Strange."
