This story is dedicated to my children Robin, Daniel, Sarah, and Rachel, the greatest treasures in my life, who managed to 'ground' me and helped me grow and become the person that I am today. This is a true story of self-discovery, adventure, and new beginnings.
We should try to find perfect existence through imperfect existence (Zen saying)
Life has a habit of throwing new challenges at us. And how do we react to those circumstances, choices, or opportunities? I believe in the best way we can! No one deliberately sets out on a harmful or destructive path, makes bad choices, or marries the wrong partner... those realizations usually come later. At the time of making the decision, you believe in it, your focus is on everything good about this choice, ...or you realize that your fear of the alternative (not going for it) is greater. Either way; we always have reasons for our choices and actions. Our 'moves' (or lack of them) tell us a lot about who we are and it was only in my mid-thirties when I truly realized the need to understand and get to know myself fully. I could fill pages about how our genetic makeup predisposes us for certain traits and how the environment and social factors shape us – but while this is important to acknowledge, in the end, it is still up to the individual to make the best out of their life. Blaming people or circumstances has never done anyone any good but serves merely as an excuse for resignation.
As one can imagine, trying to 'work yourself out' is an ongoing process, and it is never too late to start doing so. Having said that however, I hope I can encourage you to not leave it for as long as I did – the earlier the better, ...it can save you (and others) a lot of grief. Please don't forget to vote 😀
