MAFIA SERIES 2: Ready, ROGUE ONE.

Chapter 7

Today is the day I've dreaded the most. Ngayon na gaganapin ang aming engagement party, at ngayon na rin dapat ang aking paglabas upang isagawa ang pagma-manman sa dating senador. But I don't think I could make it in time.

Sa tingin ko ay kapag nakahanap ako ng pagkakataon ay baka maaari pa akong makapuslit. I can ask General Guazon to cover for me, and maybe my brother too if he's compliant. But he should be! Lalo pa at siya ang dahilan kung bakit ako naiipit sa sitwasyong ito.

I'm currently gathering up my gears inside my car, trying to be prepared in case I could sneak out to do my mission. I placed all my weapons inside, along with my suits and some equipments that could come in handy.

Isa pa, I have to do this quick while it's still early in the morning. Especially now that Mrs. Salvatierra's been so keen to have me stay at their villa for the rest of the day and even till tomorrow. Hopefully, it's just until tomorrow.

Gusto niyang maaga pa lang ay do'n na ako sa kanila upang doon na rin ako maayusan at makapaghanda pa bago gaganapin ang party.

I went back up to my condo to wrap things up, I had to double check my files and gears. Lahat naman ng mga iyan ay iiwan ko lang sa sasakyan ko.

I took one empty black-colored duffel bag upang doon ilagay ang ilan sa mga folders na kakailanganin ko, when I suddenly heard a ring from my doorbell.

Agad namang napakunot ang aking noo. I'm not expecting anyone but I sure feel like it's either my parents or my brother. And I am truly certain they've come this far to take me to the villa.

I immediately zipped up the bag at itinabi ito bago tinungo ang pintuan at binuksan. But the figure waiting outside my door took all the basic sense of communication away from me. I was stuck, just standing still, dahil sa gulat at pagtataka kung bakit siya nandito.

"Are we seriously just gonna stand here for the entire day?" Sarkastiko niyang saad na agad namang nakapukaw ng aking atensyon.

Napaatras ako ng hakbang at marahang napailing. Agad akong napatingin sa aking sarili, to check if I was presentable enough to be facing my fake fiancee.

I was just wearing an oversized plain white shirt that it almost covered my black cycling shorts. My hair is up in a messy bun and I obviously look disheveled from all the packing I did since earlier.

I worriedly look at him once again, and I was met with a scrutinizing look from him.

"I wasn't expecting any visitor today." I unconsciously defended myself.

"This is your home, you're entitled to wear whatever you like." He commented in a monotonous voice. Hindi ko tuloy alam if he really meant what he said or he was just being sarcastic.

I hurriedly stepped aside to give way for him to enter at inaya siyang pumasok sa loob ng condo ko.

Mabuti na lang talaga at wala akong mga gamit mula sa trabaho na iniiwan dito sa sala. And it's also a good thing that I was done packing up my gears.

Iginiya ko siya sa sofa, and gestured for him to take a seat.

"So, what brings you here?" Naguguluhan kong tanong sa kaniya. Before he shot me an answer, he first took his time to scan around the entire living room area.

I don't know what he's looking for or if he is actually looking for something, but one thing's for sure. He sure does look serious while inspecting my place. Ano ba ang inaasahan nitong makita rito sa pamamahay ko?

"Uh. Excuse me?" Muli kong tawag sa atensyon niya. Napa-arko naman ang isang kilay nito at napa-halukipkip saka ako tinuonan ng pansin.

"Just observing how a lawyer's place would look like." Simple niyang tugon sa akin at nagkibit-balikat.
