Shards

We said forever,
We couldn't keep our own promises.
We held on too tight,
And all of a sudden everything snapped.

We said forever,
We couldn't keep our own promises.
We held on too tight,
And without a warning everything snapped.

Broken shards in a deserted room,
That once used to hold two.
Split and living with hurt,
With memories to rue.
When you're at the end of your rope and got nothing to hold,
Its better to let go and fall, cut yourself loose.

...............

We made up our minds,
We built our own little worlds.
With everything we could find,
Piece by piece, shard by shard.

It all unravelled so quickly
I wasn't ready to withdraw.
Held on for far too long
And cut my hands on the remnants.

With bloody hands and a broken heart I got back on my feet.
Maybe one day I'll find my shard and I'll feel complete.
When you're at the end of your rope and got nothing to hold,
Its better to let go and fall, cut yourself loose.
