Once out there I would see that Tenn would still be walking towards an area where there were three other picnic tables, with all a bunch of kids. Just talking and eating like it was nothing.
Oh, Jesus, I'm really doing this....The voice returned in my head as I took a deep breath.
And slowly made my way to the tables.
--------
I slowly made my way to the tables, eyes one by one slowly landing on me. After making it towards the few tables. Marlon cleared his throat.
"Here (Y/N), come sit i'll get you some food."
I nodded, as I moved towards the table that had Louis, a girl with short blonde hair, a girl with a torn up hat, and a little boy who sat next to the girl with the ruined hat.
I sighed as I sat down next to the girl with the hat.
Marlon came back with a bowl that looked like soup. Placing a spoon down next to the bowl. "There we go, eat up." Marlon said, sitting back down next to the girl with short blonde hair.
I picked up the spoon and put it into the hot food, bringing it to my mouth and blowing it, so I didn't burn my mouth as I started to eat. The soup was pretty good, it was better than what I have been eating the last few months. A small taste of rabbit as well. I still though, felt a few eyes still on me, it was awkward. But someone cleared their throat to try and break the awkward silence.
"Sooo, shall we play War again?" Louis offered, moving his bowl away from him and getting up from his spot to move his chair.
"Good idea Louis, maybe this time, whoever wins, gets to ask (Y/N) a question." Marlon also offered which I narrowed my eyes at him when he spoke that sentence. He just smiled sheepishly at me. I just let out a sigh. I guess I can be reasonable with them, they did let me into their home, rest and eat and stuff.
"Okay, sure and if I win I get to ask you guys questions?" I asked, Marlon just nodded as Louis shuffled out the cards. It was pretty much Me, Marlon, Louis, and the girl with short blonde hair that were left. Louis split the deck for all four of us.
"So, how do you play War?" I looked down at the deck of cards that were handed to me. Before looking back up at Louis. My gaze then shifted to the girl with the short blonde hair, who started to speak.
"Simple, we flip over one cards from the top. Highest card wins and asks a question." She said.
"Couldn't have said it better myself Vi!" Louis beamed, as he shuffled his own deck of cards.
So her name is Vi, noted. I thought for a moment. Letting the rules sink in before nodding.
"Okay, let's start then." The other three nodded. At the same time, the four of us flipped over one card. I would look at all the cards:
Vi got a seven
Marlon got a Queen
Louis got a five. . .
And I got an eight.
"Hm, looks like Marlon won." Louis spoke up. I moved my eyes away from the cards and looked at Marlon, as he started to think of a question.
"Hmmm, well. You couldn't have been by yourself the whole time. Did you have a family, or a group?" He questioned, my eyes moved down to the wooden table.
"My uh, mother died from a bad car accident when I was five, and my dad died a few uhm. . .Weeks before it all started. I don't know if any of my relatives are alive. My grandfather had military experience and along with my Aunt, so I don't know if they are alive. I honestly have no clue, as for any groups, I was in a few when I was younger But, when I got older and learned how to survive and fend for myself, I choose to stay alone." I answered, as I cleared my throat and looked up at the three. They stayed silent for a while but Louis, being the guy he is. Did his best to keep the mood up. "Alrighty let's flip another card." Doing his best to change the subject.
We would all flip:
Vi got a Jack
Marlon got a two
Louis got a Seven
And I got an Ace.
"What does the Ace mean?" I asked, moving my gaze again from the cards and to the three.
"Aces are the highest card so that means you won." Vi explained.
"Well shit. . .Hmmm let me think for a moment. . ." I trailed off, letting my mind wander. Before I snapped my fingers.
"I got one! What was the weirdest thing you've ever done." I asked.
"Had to eat eyes once." Vi answered casually, crossing her arms as she answered.
"Hmm, I had to help someone locate their leg, like put it back in place." Marlon also answered, all three of us looked at Louis.
"Well, unlike you two. I haven't done anything weird, yet I think." Louis said smugly, I would have raised a brow.
"Well, I covered myself. I walker guts one time to go past a huge herd of walkers. It was scary but it worked out fine." I simply said, Vi and Marlon looked at me with an impressed look on their face while Louis. . .Had a gross expression on his face. "Ew gross!" He finally said, shivering.
"It's Badass." Marlon stated.
"It's gross, sorry." Louis retorted, as we all flipped over another card.
Vi got a king
Marlon got a four
And I got two.
I looked down at Vi's card before looking at her with my kindest smile, which was just a small smile.
"Alright (Y/N), the bags that you had with you, what's in it?"
I let out a sigh, I was afraid that someone was going to ask that. The bag had important things in there, not like weapons and food but other important things that honestly I don't trust them enough for them to know.
"You know, basic needs and such. Nothing really special" I said awkwardly. I didn't lie but, I didn't tell the truth either. I did have basic needs in the bag as well. I would have looked down at the deck of cards. We only played three games but, I don't really feel like playing anymore, and it was starting to get late.
"I should head to bed, thank you for letting me play." I said casually. As I got up from the spot I was sitting in, handing the stack of cards back to Louis and thanking him for letting her play, as I would start to head inside into the dorm area.
Once inside, I would have walked into the bedroom I was staying in. Closing the door behind me.
I would have looked down at the bag near the bunk beds, sitting down on the bed and grabbing the bag, unzipping the front pocket to reveal photos of myself when I was little and. . .my family. It was when I was five, I was with my Grandfather, Aunt, My mom and my Dad. Celebrating my fourth birthday.
I smiled as I put the photo down on the counter, laying down on the bed and heading to sleep.
-------------------------------------
I woke up to yelling and thunder booming.
My eyes slowly opened as I got out of bed, rubbing my eyes as I looked out the window. It was still dark out, most likely really really early in the morning. I would hear the yelling getting louder. Then the sound of running. Like a little boy running away from a parent. I would have sighed as I opened the door to the bedroom, stepping out and making my way outside.
It was pouring rain, I squinted my eyes as I looked around. Thunder was booming so I couldn't really hear what they were yelling about, but I can hear them yelling. I looked around to see the boy with the big hair raising a gun towards. . .Marlon-who had his back towards him as he was backing away from the others who were out there, which was pretty much everyone in the school.
The boy would put his hand on the trigger, I quickly made his way towards him.
"Wait Kid!-"
A gunshot would have been heard, then everything was dead silent, other than the rain and thunder.
There would now be Marlon dead on the ground. The boy holding the gun slowly lowered it. A fearful look on his face as everyone stared at him.
"What? I aimed for the head."
