Btw, here's the playlist I've been listening too while writing this if you're interested. I think it'll do pretty good to listen to while reading if you ask me :)

The song that I've listened to writing most of this chapter (okay the second half mostly) is 'smoke clouds' by James Arthur, and that may or may not show...

Falling, drowning, whatever the word, there'll always be moments when you think you're in control,

Only to soon be shattered again, and the way downwards continues

~

When Zayn once again is a little aware of his surroundings, he realises that Harry and Niall must've quietly watched them for a while now. But to his surprise, when he opens his eyes and searches the room, there's no one else than Louis and himself to be seen.

"Lou," His voice is a bit cracked, so he coughs to clear it, and then tries again. "Lou, where's Ni and Haz?"

Even in his own ears, the voice that escapes his lips sounds small and weak, far from his usual, but he doesn't have the energy to care about that right now. To be fair to himself, he doesn't think he's the energy to do anything at the moment. The only thing he longs for -except someone that'll never be his - is a warm bed to curl up in, and an escape in the shape of sleep, that'll have him forget everything that's now tormenting him from inside.

"I sent them away, thought you wouldn't want any more audience than necessary." Louis' soothing voice is calming in his ears, and he allows himself to curl up against Louis, rest his head against the other boy's shoulder, and once again lets his eyes fall closed - for what feels like the millionth time today - and flows in and out of consciousness, like the smooth waves of tide.

He doesn't answer, but he figures Louis'll understand his quiet nod, and the small smile of gratitude spreading upon his lips.

It is like that Liam finds the two of them a while later, with Louis' arms surrounding Zayn in a tight embrace and Zayn almost desperately clinging on to him.

A time that could've been hours or seconds in Zayn's mind, he wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Liam, with a sunny smile spread across his pink lips, lightning his whole face, and with his phone still clutched tightly in his hand. Making a quite dazed impression, with some - or a lot - resemblance to a lovesick puppy.

And then Zayn, with Louis' arms embracing him in a tight grip, still with wet streaks of tears painting angry reds across his cheeks, and tightly clutching the older boy's shirt, as if to keep himself from falling.

"Liam." Louis utters the name shortly, and with a cold undertone that could've made anyone shiver - anyone except Liam apparently - . His whole body tensing when his eyes catches Liam's glowing figure, with a face shining like a sun out of happiness.

Zayn can't resist the urge to quickly peek up from Louis' shoulder. No matter how tired, hurt and broken he is, he still needs Liam. Needs to watch his beautiful, shining face, even though it isn't because of him that Liam's happy.

Zayn needs Liam, and he isn't afraid of admitting that to himself anymore.

But the happy expression covering Liam's face sinks when his eyes catches Zayn's, by tears, reddened eyes, the wet streaks of tears still glistening upon his cheeks in the dim light. The glowing light behind Liam's face seems to fade away, like when a cloud appears out of nowhere and obscures the light from the sun.
