I don't want to amma, Adhiti said in dejection.
Wear some makeup and make yourself presentable.
Seriously ma? I don't want to fake anything. I just took a shower and I look fresh. I will just come with this face. I don't want him to like me for my appearance, Adhiti said in annoyance.
A month before Adhi's family uploaded her profile in a matrimonial site. From that day they received many proposals but zero worked out. Finally yesterday they received an alliance which is from her own city. The guy's profile almost fulfilled all the expectations of her parents.
"He did PhD in engineering, working as a professor in a reputed college. His dad works as a government engineering in another city he visits home once a week. Mother, homemaker. Owns some properties", Adhi's father informed her and her mother after having a conversation with a guy's father.
"And I did a back check also everyone gave favorable comments about the guy", he added.
"He will take good care of our daughter". Think about it and tell me should I take the next step or drop this, he said and left the home.
Adhiti's mind was clouded with chaos. They send the guy's picture via WhatsApp. Adhi had a panic attack after having a look at the picture. Anyone with clear eyes could identify the picture is fully photoshopped.
God, why do people do this to their photo she mentally asked. Why do they begin a relationship with a lie?
"What do you think of Adhi?" Mom asked. Mom look at the picture it's photoshopped I am telling you will look a whole different in person.
"Beauty won't feed you, Adhi her mother snapped". (The ultimate dialogue of every parent in an arranged marriage). Ma I am not talking about beauty here. And I'm not a racist or body shame.
He is being fake in the first itself how can I trust him for life?
"We think he is good for you then your choice", she said and left her alone.
The one who immediately flashed in her mind was Nisha. Adhi dialed her and waits for Nisha to pick up the phone.
"Nishaaa", she whined.
"What happened d?"
Check the message I've sent. ( Adhi send the profile and pic of that guy)
Ok, wait.
Nisha bursts into laughter. "Girl, are they trying to get rid of you??"
From now on, "I am gonna call you aunty", she said and laughed again. Adhiti aunty, Adhithi aunty she giggled.
I made a mistake I shouldn't have called you. Get lost. Adhi snapped angrily and disconnected the call.
Within a second her phone rang. It's none other than her bestie Nisha. She let the phone ring and took it in the last ring.
Hey! I am sorry d. I was thrilled, you are the first one in our friend circle to get married.
Nothing is fixed yet, Adhiti said lazily. "I am so confused", did you take a look at his pic?? its photoshopped.
Yeah! d I have found it in the first glance. You always love being real. Did you say yes to him?
No! d appa told all the positive things about him. I have nothing to point out and reject Mr. X, except this picture matter. But elders won't get my point, she said and let out a sigh.
