I rolled my eyes, "It's 1 AM. What do you want?"

"I could be a murder, and you the first thing you do is roll your eyes?" he asked in a British accent

I started to close my window, "Doubt it"

"Wait" he held it up, "Can you just let me in?"

"You're lucky I'm a nice person"

The mysterious guy climbed through my window and I glared at him.

"What do you want," I asked

"Well, I was trying to get home but it's bloody frustrating in these dark woods"

"Yes, it is. What's your name?"

"Blake. And you?"

"Emily"

"Well, it's nice to meet you Emily" he looked around my room and his eyes landed on my canvas.

"The New York City Skyline," I said

"Ah, never been to New York, but I've heard great things about it"

"Well Blake, May I ask what you're doing at 1 AM in the woods?"

"The time change really gets to me and I was just exploring. Then, I got lost and your window was the best bet"

I tilted my head in confusion.

"Your light was on so I gave it a chance"

"Alright, well. You'll probably be able to find your house when the sun comes up so you can sleep in here"

"Oh, I couldn't do that"

I groaned, "Blake, you're in my room. At 1 AM. In my house. You're sleeping in my room"

I turned the lights off, said goodbye, and went to the guest room...

I woke up a few hours later and I remembered Austin. I ran to my room only to find he was gone. But, he left a note.

Emily,

Thank you for letting me stay here overnight. I appreciate it. I hope to see you again.

I saw my bed was neatly made, and all my paints were carefully organized. I really didn't understand any of this, but I liked Blake's personality. He seemed really cool and I was happy I had met him.

I internally groaned when I remembered we had to see the new neighbors for dinner. I decided I was going to finish my painting from last night, so I sat down and played some music.

A few hours of bliss passed until Cody came barging into my room. He let me know that I was cooking for all seven of us and I couldn't say no. Now, I had to stop painting and go grocery shopping. I cleaned up and went to my car. I wasn't excited but didn't have a choice. I decided on Yankee Pot Roast because it was simple, easy, and delicious.

When I came home, I noticed the house was really clean and laughed. My mom must've made Cody clean because I was cooking. My suspicions were proven correct when I saw Cody turn the corner with gloves and a cleaning bottle. My mouth dropped open, and Cody just rolled his eyes at my immaturity. He pointed to the kitchen and I frowned. I knew it was time to start cooking.

It was now 1:30, and the guests were coming at 6. I had four and a half hours until they came, so I had plenty of time to cook. I got out the slow cooker and put all the ingredients in. The only thing I had to do besides washing the vegetables, was cut and cook the meat.

It didn't take me long, and when it was 2:30 I decided to get ready. I don't wear makeup because I think it isn't important to cover your face. I understand people do it as a confidence thing, but over time I've learned to love myself. When I was 14, I dyed my hair brown because people kept calling me a dumb blonde. On my 17th birthday, I went to the hair stylist and got my hair dyed back to what it used to be. I did it out of insecurity and learned that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. My own opinion is what matters.
