Author's Pov
(Y/n) felt her hand twitch as she slowly regained consciousness. As she started to regain her senses, she felt a sharp, pulse-like feeling shoot through her body. She groaned in pain as she slowly opened her eyes to observe her surroundings only to be met with a bright light shining in her eyes to which she closed them.
She slowly got up, much to her body's protest, and looked around her. She was in a forest and a very lively one at that. The birds were singing in the many trees that encompassed her. The sun's rays rained onto the ground, peaking through the foliage and directly shining her face. Almost as if it was telling her to get up.
She needed to get up and find out where she was. She stumbled to her feet and hobbled her way over to the nearest tree. (Y/n) felt a sharp, throbbing pain in her foot. She looked down at it and saw that her entire ankle was swollen and was severely bruised. 'Fuck! It's broken,' the (h/c)ette thought as she bit her lip.
She hesitantly limped over from tree to tree till she reached a clearing. There, (Y/n) saw four large deer two of which had large, prominent antlers. As the girl tried to walk around the clearing as to not scare them, she accidentally stepped on a branch. The loud snap echoing through the air as the grazing deer all looked towards the now nervous girl.
The giant deer approach (Y/n) cautiously as she tried to back up only to fall due to her injured foot. She was terrified and held her arms up to her face as some sort of protection and waited for the inevitable to happen. A few minutes passed, yet nothing happened.
'Any minute now,' she thought. Suddenly she felt a cold, wet nose brush against her tender ankle. (Y/n) yelped in both surprise and pain as she brought her arms down to the ankle, all the while using her unharmed foot to push herself back against a tree, creating a bit of distance between herself and the strange animals.
Though her actions would have startled most animals, they seemed unfazed, and a small male deer approached her. (Y/n)'s breathing increased ten-fold and she curled herself into as tiny of a ball she could manage. She felt a nudge against her side, so being the curious person she is, she looked up from her defense ball and saw the same deer staring at her. They stared at each other for a while and the girl's defense slowly dissipated.
Soon enough (Y/n) was brave enough to try and touch it. She hesitantly reached out her hand and gently stroked the mammal's fur. It seemed to like what she was doing and leaned into her touch. (Y/n) smiled for the first time since the...incident.
The larger male walked up to the two and looked at them, jealousy mingled in his eyes, almost as if he wanted to get pet too. (Y/n) saw this and laughed a little bit, moving her hand from the one she had been petting to the other which had been patiently waiting for their turn. As the girl gently caressed his head, he put his head in her lap.
