"Lisa, how are you feeling today? How's the pup?" I asked Lisa, a she-wolf who was in the pack hospital due to complications with her pregnancy.

"I feel better today, Luna. Doctor Ashdown said that I might be able to go back to the pack house within this week", she replied. After telling her how great that was and wishing her a speedy recovery, I moved on to the next wolf. As Luna of our pack, the Arapaho Moon pack, it was basically my job to take care of my pack. It's almost as if the Alpha is like the administrative head, the one with the authority, while the Luna takes care of the pack on a more personal level, though she holds equal power and authority.

Will and I had been mated for nearly three years now. Since I practically grew up with him because of his friendship with Jamie, we already knew each other pretty well and completed our mating process only about two weeks after our birthday, much faster than two strangers normally would. Everyone thinks that it's a 'meet-and-mark' thing, but we're allowed to take our time. Most wolves get to know each other before they mate.

Today was also Will and my birthday, and I had his gift ready. I was pretty sure that he'd like it, considering that he'd wanted this for more that two years now.

(Later that night-

The pack had surprised us with a bonfire, which was pretty difficult to do because the huge amount of food made wasn't really possible to hide. But they managed, and now everyone was pigging out at the barbecue and cake. Ellie, the Gamma, was standing a little apart from everyone, doing her job even when everyone else was partying. Having a female Gamma was pretty rare, though not unheard of, but there was no one else I'd rather do her job. She was made to be Gamma; she could be a total hard-ass during training when she needed to be, and her war strategies were better than Will and Jamie's combined.

As it grew later and the pack members went back to their houses, Will and I went to our house as well. It was a little cottage, and Will had built it for us himself. I was dying to give him his gift; after hiding it for nearly two weeks, I was really impatient.

"Will, close your eyes, I have to give you your gift!", I said, and sat him down on the sofa before getting the little box out of my closet. I picked up his hand and put the box on it, before telling him to open his eyes. He opened the wrapping on the box with amusement glinting in his eyes at my eagerness for him to open it, but I knew the humour would vanish when he saw what was inside the box.

He opened the box and took out a white T-shirt. When he unfolded it and saw the words 'World's Best Daddy' printed on it, his face snapped up to look at me. I motioned for him to look back into the box before he said anything, so he did so and pulled out a photo. It was an ultrasound print out.

"I.. We- We're- having a baby..?", Will asked me, barely able to get the words out.

"Yes, we are. We're going to be parents!" I squealed out the last bit, not able to contain my excitement in any longer.

Will put everything aside and stood up, pulled me close to him and buried his face in the crook of neck, the side that bore his mark. Then he proceeded to pick me up and swing me, only stopping to kiss me.
