Have you ever been in that situation where you don't want to do something or go somewhere, but you know you have to. It's that place that is so dreadful you would fake being sick just to get out of it. Well, I have that place. Crowed halls, arrogant guys, blonde bimbos, bullies, cliches, and nerds. High school. Where every day turns into your worst nightmare. But you know what's worse? Not even being in your high school. My name is Skylar Camp and I am a seventeen year old, shy, quiet girl who is so broken my mom can't even deal with me anymore.
Summer has ended. School has arrived. My worst nightmare has returned... What joy, right? No. Not even close. Ah, I am truly over joyed by this luxurious occasion that's Monday morning. But, it's not a normal Monday where I would get up and go to school. Today, I will be taking a plane to South Carolina. Yep, my mom is sending me down south to stay with my older brother. Yay!
"Sky, are you up yet?!" My mom yelled from outside of my bedroom door. And, you know what I love about my mother most? She tries so hard to help, but she does it in all the worst ways. Counseling, therapy, psychiatric help, medicine, and groups! She seriously believes that I need help, and she's starting to make me believe it, too.
I stand up from my desk in the corner of my room and walk to the locked door to open it. Once I open it, I give my mom a thumbs up telling her I'm up and fine. Instead of being a normal mom telling me that breakfast is ready, she asks her normal freakish questions...
"Let me see your wrists. Have you relapsed again? God, Sky I can't take much of this much longer!" She exclaims in my face even though she knows I've been clean for a month, she is still trying to find a reason to get rid of me and she finally found one. I know kind of what she's going through, though because I'm the one living like this. Mute, depressed, and maybe bipolar, but she's too scared to have to pay more medical bills. You just have to love her.
I roll my eyes at her causing her to narrow her eyes, "Get ready, we leave in five," she spits at me before turning down the hall.
Slowly walking into my closet, I pick out my usual outfit, but adding spice this time. I put on ripped, skinny blue jeans with a light brown belt and anchor belt buckle. Black long sleeve t-shirt with a white and black cheetah Pink Victoria Secret zip jacket. Wearing my black Uggs, black beanie, and black sparkly nails, I grab my phone, earphones, and over the shoulder bag to head downstairs.
As soon as I step on the last step, I see my mom staring at her watch and pacing the living room... this will be a long ten minute car ride!
