"So I was talking to Steve?" Bucky says to you over the phone as you make your way towards campus.

"Mhm." You confirm you're listening.

"He wants us to come over tonight for dinner and drinks, also Peggy wants to meet you." You explained.

"Sounds like fun." You reply.

"So you're in?"

"Yeah, what time?"

"Eight, I can come pick you up-"

"You live across the hall from him, there's no point for you to come pick me up to just go back home again." You explain.

"Just trying to be a gentleman doll."

"That's a first."

"I was a gentleman last night." He whispered playfulness in his tone.

"I've got class. I need to go." You say walking into campus.

"I'll tell them you're coming."

"Yes, see you soon." You say your goodbyes and you make your way over to your first class. Today was a short day with only two classes and your second one was with Steve Rogers so you knew you could relax a bit. After Steve's lesson he asked to speak to you about an "assignment", he was obviously not angry and you could see right through the bullshit excuse so you presumed this was to do with the dinner.

"What's up?" You ask walking down the auditorium steps towards Steve as the last few students leave.

"That's no way to talk to a professor."

"Everyone's gone Steve you can drop the act, I know you don't want to talk about an assignment." You said and Steve smiled back at you.

"Guilty. I told Buck to ask you but he's extremely forgetful, Peggy and I were wondering if you and Bucky wanted to come over for drinks and dinner?" Steve asked.

"We'd love to. And surprisingly Bucky did remember to ask me but it seems he forgot to tell you." You say making Steve laugh. The conversation didn't last too long with Steve just telling you a few details like that it starts at eight etc. After you decided to go home as you didn't have any more classes, you finished up some work you had for some of your classes and realised how quickly time passed as it was already six. You didn't really know how to dress for this dinner, so you decided to go for a nice sundress and light makeup. When you got to Bucky's he opened the door and just stared at you for a second. "You look gorgeous doll." He finally said.

"You look underdressed." You replied with a playful smile as he was just wearing jeans and no top. He laughed before inviting you in and going to his bedroom to put on a shirt, he wore a nice light blue shirt that complimented his eyes and matched his blue jeans. After you were both ready you went across the hall to Steve's and Peggy's. Peggy greeted you with a huge hug and began to gush over your "beautiful" dress as she called it. She dragged you inside straight away to show you something while the guys stood there in shock over how quickly you and Peggy bonded. "Never thought this moment would happen." Steve said quietly walking into the living room with Bucky.

"What moment?" Bucky questioned.

"You coming round with your dream girl for dinner."

"Shut up Punk." Bucky said pushing past Steve

"Jerk." Steve said laughing and following Bucky into the room.

You and Peggy joined the boys in the living room you sat down on the couch next to Bucky and his hand straight away rested in your thigh. "You have such a beautiful flat." You said and Steve and Peggy thanked you.

"It's the same as mine just flipped stop sucking up." Bucky said making everyone laugh.

"I wasn't sucking up Buck, I was being nice you should try it sometime. Also your flat looks like a bachelors flat." You explained.

"What's that meant to mean?"

"You need more plants."

"Okay what are you doing tomorrow we'll go plant shopping." Bucky said making you laugh. "I'm being serious I'll buy plants for you so you like my flat more."

"It's not a competition." Steve said laughing.

"Oh but Steven it is." Bucky said and you laughed resting your head on his shoulder, the one without the metal arm. Overall the evening was pleasant, the food was really good it felt like an old fashioned family meal. After eating you helped clean up, Steve and Bucky ended up in a conversation in the living room while you ended up with Peggy in the kitchen.

"You and Bucky are very adorable together, you make him happy." Peggy commented breaking away from the conversation you guys were having about the food. It seemed like something she really had to get out.

"I appreciate that Peggy, we're nothing like you and Steve but I like Bucky I'm hoping this relationship doesn't backfire in my face." You admitted avoiding eye contact.

"Y/N, don't worry, I've known Bucky for a really long time and he's never been this happy, I hate to compare you to his ex, but right about now they would be arguing about something I'm the corridor or ignoring each other. That's how every evening ended." Peggy explained to you while washing the dishes. It gave you a lot to think about, mainly why did Bucky stay in that relationship.

"That sounds rough." You replied taking a moment to think. "It's just Bucky and I, I don't know if either of them mentioned this to you, our lives are heavily entangled so I'm worried that if things go south it'll really backfire."

"You're worried about being his student?" Peggy questioned. And you nodded in reply. "I'll let you in ok a secrete something Steve doesn't like to boast about, we were in the exact same situation and you and Bucky, Steve was my history professor, even worse he was tutoring me and we started to develop feelings for each other and look at us now." She said showing off her ring. The conversation with Peggy eased your anxiety about this whole situation but it didn't completely remove it. Stark was another big hurdle in the path and knowing there's a chance prop could find out terrified you. You wished you could keep your lives separate. The Y/N and professor Barnes at school and Y/N and Bucky at home, but you knew it would be difficult.
