Chapter 19

A/N I know Harry being talking to portrait of Merlin but I think since Dumbledore headmaster he can summon any portrait into ghost form.

Harry said his goodbyes and headed back to his dormitory where Ron and Hermione were waiting for him. They asked "Where have you been?" Harry said "Found out the next task and asked Snape on a date." Hermione asked "Really wow! What did he say?" Harry replied "He said yes, plus I found out he's a Sphinx, which shocked me." Ron and Hermione couldn't believe their ears. Ron said "Awesome mate glad you found your special someone." Harry smiled and went off to sleep. During the night he went to talk to Merlin, he said "I found my Sphinx but I am sure McGonagall and Dumbledore will be against Student and Teacher dating." Merlin replied "But the castle will be fine with it, the rules are only in a book it's not magic in the castle to stop Students and Staff dating, I mean even a seventh grader student can date a First year with no consequences, Why can't Student and Staff do the same?" Harry really liked that answer, he said "Excellent say something similar to that to Dumbledore tomorrow."

In the morning  class and was usual, for some reason Harry couldn't concentrate in any of his classes. McGonagall was worried, she asked him to stay after class, Harry did what he was told. She asked "You seem distracted, are you okay?" Harry replied "Yeah I am fine just looking forward to the ball and the second task." McGonagall was pleased and asked another question "Do you have a date?" Harry said "Yeah, I was shocked at first, I didn't think he would say yes but he did." McGonagall replied "Really, that's great, Who is he?" Harry said "Don't get too mad but it's Professor Snape." McGonagall was entirely shocked and said "WHAT! you do know it's against the school rules?" Harry replied "Well yeah I do, but it isn't against the castle rules." McGonagall was extremely worried, she sent a patronus to Dumbledore office and he arrived straight away. 

He asked "McGonagall why have you asked me to come to your classroom?" McGonagall replied "Well it's Harry sir, he said to me that his date for the Yule Ball is Professor Snape and against the School rules." Dumbledore looked at Harry and asked "Is this true?" Harry nodded "Yes sir I asked him and he said yes." Dumbledore was cross, he sent a Patonus to Snape to ask him to come to McGonagall's Classroom. Snape arrived straight away he said "Headmaster, you wanted to see me." Dumbledore replied "Yes that's correct, McGonagall asked me here because she was concerned about Harry." Snape asked "What has he done now?" Dumbledore replied "Well McGonagall asked him who his date was for the Yule Ball and he said he was taking you to the ball." Snape asked "That's correct sir, Is there a problem?" McGonagall and Dumbledore together said "It's against the school rules." Snape chuckled "Well it isn't against the Castle rules it may be against the school but the castle does what it thinks it's right." McGonagall asked "You are the second person to say what do you mean?" Then Harry butted in, he said "Well Headmaster put the rule that no staff can date students but before it was a school it was a simple castle where Merlin lived and he made the castle obey his laws, I am sure you are Headmaster you can asked the castle or even Merlin." Dumbledore said "Okay I don't know how to ask the castle but I am sure I can asked Merlin." Dumbledore summoned Merlin's ghost to arrive in this classroom he asked "Hello Dumbledore how can I help you?"
