“I'm alright Damien.” She answered with a smile that I could only described a blushing grin. I had this overwhelming feeling to keep her safe and unharmed the first time I saw her. When mother asked me indirectly if she was the girl from my visions, I shook my head no only to not worry Rose. I chuckled and smiled at her response.

“Come on now, lets go sit. You don't need to be on that ankle for much longer anyway.” I said as I guided her to the living room to sit on the sofa. After setting her down I sat in the chair right across from her.

“Damien I would of been fine, but I guess you are right.” She admitted. She looked over the fireplace where my father and I had hung our family portrait, and I instantly saw the wonder flood across her face once more. I watched her study it in aw. “Damien, this building behind you and your parents, in your family portrait. What is it?” she asked me. I laughed at her amazement, then answered her question.

“That’s my home from when I lived on the mainland. It was a ‘bit’ larger than this place, but I like the smaller size of this place.” I answered giving a slight smile at the memories I had there. “It was very elegant place, it was a victorian style house. But I hated how small I felt.” I smiled with a slight hint embarrassment.

“Really? I don’t like the feeling of the small rooms and being confined. It’s actually the reason why I spend so much of my time out in the woods. That way I can feel free and explore.” She smiled widely, a little bit to hard though she gave a slight wince as her skin wrinkled under her bandage causing it to sting. But she gave a laugh despite the pain she felt.

A few moments later we heard a knock at the door, and I stood up to go see who it was. Seeing it was Rose’s mother and a man I opened the door.

“Hello Mrs.---” I paused remembering that I had yet to get their last name.

“Mrs. Brown ,dear. And this is my husband” She said introducing herself and her husband properly. I aloud them inside and showed them where Rose and I had been sitting just before. Not even a moment later my parents stepped in with water and some small snacks. The evening went along well, my parents did well with striking up a conversation with Rose’s parents, Rose and I got to know each other a bit more and before we knew it the evening was over and my parents and I watched as Rose and her parents make their way home.

Over the next few months, Rose healed quickly and we became very close friends. She loved to teach me about the many different creatures that lived on the island. Animals such as; dragons, the griffins, and the rare pixies that every so often visited the island. She would read me many true and fictional stories about these creatures. One particular day she was reading to me and I happened to slip off to sleep as I listened to her tale.

But I soon wished I didn’t. The dream I had was no ordinary dream, it was a vition. Now my mother and I are from a long line of gifted individuals that can see the ‘dark shadows of the world’, We get visions of their plans, that way we can stop them. This gift jumps from generation to generation and I was lucky enough to gain the gift. The vision I began to see, made me wish I didn’t have the gift.

I saw nothing but dark at first but as the visuals came so did the words. I saw Rose standing there smiling, but something was off that automatically gave it away that this was not an ordinary dream. Instead of her all brunette hair that was usually let down, it had a bold blond streak and it was pulled up into a ponytail and everything about her was much darker, she also had on different clothing. She was wearing a dark gray leather looking long sleeve shirt with a short black leather skirt and thigh high stockings.

Then ‘It’ spoke. “You will meet her, we will take her. There's only one way to protect her. Give us what we seek and she will be spared. But if not, You better be prepared. You will be laughing and  having a good time, but in the blink of an eye--” ‘It’ said with a menacing grin.

“She will be mine” a second voice came, I looked over to see myself, but not me. It was my ‘shadow version’ as I liked to call him and I guessed that the Rose Look-alike was Rose’s. He was wearing similar styled clothing as the Rose look-alike, dark grey leather shirt and black leather pants. I knew what this meant now, I have had this vision/dream before. The 'her’ they referred to, was Rose and the only way to protect her was to give them the magical object they were seaking. Then I felt something on my arm. 'Something new to this vision?’ I thought to myself. I looked to my side to find Rose with a worried expression, then faster than then you could snap your fingers she was ripped away from me. That's when I woke up with a jolt.

“Rose!!!” I yelled as I bolted up. I looked to my right, were she had been sitting. She was there with her hand on my shoulder. I figured that she was just trying to wake me up.

“Damien… are you alright?” She looked worried, guessing because of how I woke up. I was relieved that she was still there I pulled her into a hug. Still panting heavily from my sudden jolt of movement.
