1. Let's get together this weekend...
I admit, I don't say this often enough. Sometimes I'm busy, or just want a little time to myself. But that's no excuse. One main component of being depressed is feeling alone and forsaken. Whether they're a single child, or excluded from the family, they feel they don't belong. That no one understands them. That they aren't loved or noticed. But they are. By me and other caring friends. And I pray every night that they would be enveloped with peace and comfort. Not hatred. I want them to have a sense of my presence, thinking of them. So invite them over. Make them feel welcome and comfortable. A change in the scenery and environment can have an impact on attitude and thoughts. Maybe at home they're in a dark room filled with sadness. When you have them over to your house, they will be able to see how other families operate, which would give them a new perspective. Saying you want to get together lets them know that others enjoy being around them, despite their behavior.
