Oktoberfest and Ohio

I am going to go slightly out of order on this one. This is the most recent and fresh memory.

September 20, 2014

My roommates brother turned 21. For his birthday he decided that he wanted to go to Oktoberfest, which happened to be in Cincinnati. I had requested the day, a Saturday, of work a month in advance. That morning I woke excited and rallied the troops. My roommate rode up with his family, little brother included and I drove myself and my brother from another mother up to Cinci.

I knew from the second we got out of the car it was going to be a decent day, because the first thing we saw was a girl dressed as a Tardis! It turns out they were hosting ComicCon as well.

We got on the road around 10:30 that morning and started the festivities of around noon with a Yuengling, my favorite of all beers. Big bro and I walked around and around, up and down the streets looking for the others, who's phones were nearly dead, for about an hour.

Once we finally all met up with everyone, at the kiddie carnival, I cashed in a ride ticket with the roomies mom and rode the strawberry like it wasn't any bodies business. By the time we got off she and I were hot and sweaty, from spinning that thing around at warp speed for 5 minutes. This is where the day starts to go downhill for me! After we got off the ride little brother stopped to get food and purchase, by far, the largest corn dog ever! My roommate, who was really sick, wanted to stop so we sat around for a little bit while his brother ate and we smoked.

Our day after that was a lot of aimless walking around, purchasing of over priced Oktoberfest merchandise, complaining, and crowded streets.

Around 3 we started, very slowly, trying to make our way back to the stage area. This is where the days main event was being held... The World's Largest Chicken Dance! While walking we saw son many people dressed up for ComicCon. The funniest being a guy dressed as Superman. The boys (all batman fans) contemplated beating him up while I took a picture of him! In the end Supes was spared.

It took us a good bit, and one sit break, to make it there but we did. And just in time for Nick and Drew Lachey to lead us all in the chicken dance. I can't say I participated. Because I didn't. I exercised my 'free spirit bone' and did what I wanted... Which was to watch. It was actually a pretty cool experience to see that many people all dancing, completely synchronized (for the most part at least.) the funniest part wasn't even how into it everyone was, but that there was a giant 'lifelike' dragon in the middle of all of this bobbing and waving its head to the music. I have to give serious props to the ComicConner that made the dragon, it was pretty dope!

After our chicken dance experience was over we headed for our cars and returned to our familiar territory. Where we threw darts and drank a little more in more celebration of little brother finally being able to legally do so! It was a good road trip, filled with a few shenanigans, and as always a lot of good memories.
