"So, what you're telling me, is that a colony of Immortals lives just past that tree?"

Jason nods his head.

"Wait, they've been there this entire time? For how long? Why have I only just seen one? What did that Immortal want with my necklace? Are you horny right now, because I am. Are they all shapeshifters?" I ask rapidly.

Jason's eyebrows shoot up. "Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah!" he exclaims, kind of like that guy Noah Centineo from my favourite classic old movie, To All The Boys I've Loved Before, but sexier. "Too many questions! I'll answer them all, just wait.

"Many years ago, our great ruler - the Dictator - defeated the Immortals in the war, and banished them to the forests, never to be seen again. The Immortals have lived in secrecy for decades. Until now..."

He's so intensely sexy, I think. I swear I see his shirt disappear then reappear instantly. I shake my head and shift my focus away from his eight-pack.

"Every Immortal has a different power - some can shapeshift, some can teleport, some can read minds. The one you just met, Louis, is a Shapeshifter."

"Why did he want my necklace?" I ask. I've had this necklace for as long as I can remember, and I'm not so keen on giving it up now.

Am I dreaming, or does Jason's shirt flicker again?

"Louis likes pretty things." he replies dismissively. "As do I."

Jason stalks closer towards me, and he towers over my small figure. He keeps walking. If he comes any closer, he'll walk straight into me! I back up against a wall that I swear wasn't there before. He leans in until our faces are almost touching. Up close, the smell of testosterone is overpowering.

Jason's hand brushes against my cheek and he somehow leans even further in. His neck must really hurt from leaning so far! Suddenly, I feel something vibrate against my leg.

"Um, is my phone ringing, or are you just excited to see me?" I ask. He chuckles, then swears under his breath in a sexy moany raspy way. "It's not me," he answers.

I pull my phone out of my pocket. It's a message from Casper!

Casper
r u coming tonite?

I look up from my phone and smile apologetically to Jason. "Sorry," I say. "We have to go."

~~~
Casper is waiting for me in front of his house as Jason and I pull into his driveway. He's wearing a tight white shirt that leaves little to the imagination, and his dark hair is wet, like he's just had a shower. Casper's eyes narrow as he watches Jason help me get off the motorbike.
"Thanks for the ride," I say, smiling at Jason. He winks, then gets back on his motorbike and rides off.
"Ella! Are you alright? What were you doing on his bike?" he asks.
"We hung out after school! It's no biggie!"
"It's a yes biggie! We were supposed to walk home together! Didn't you get my calls?"
I avoid his eyes. "Well, um... It's not like I'm the only one who goes off and does her own thing! You left me alone over spring break to go to Thailand! I needed you!"
He groans. Did he do it sexily? I'm not sure. He's my best friend, I'm not supposed to feel like this towards him. "I had no choice!" he cries. "Besides, if you want to spend all your time with some rando like Jackson, then go ahead! That's fine by me!"
"Well, you can go and hang out with Janette! I bet you really liked it when she was feeling you up in second period! And, for the record, his name is Jason!"
I turn around to stomp off, when I hear Casper mutter something. "I don't care about Janette at all. The only person I've ever felt things for... was you."
I turn around, shocked. And then I faint.
