Reader's P.O.V.

Ryan and I, were currently in our local park. Swinging on the swing set, talking mindlessly about whatever topic we seemed fit.

The current topic, was Christmas, as the event would be reaching us soon. "What was your favourite Christmas present as a kid?" I ask, swinging myself a little higher than what I had anticipated.

"It was a Tom and Jerry video game. Where, you had to eat cheese and pull pranks on the other characters." He begins, "how about you?"

I thought for a moment, "well, you know when my best friend. From childhood moved away, she promised me she wouldn't leave me alone. For the last Christmas we had together she gave me a picture of a boy, who I promised myself would be there for me no matter what." I reply, smiling a little and turning away.

"Hmm..." Ryan trailed off, a confused frown overtaking his face. "Did your friend ever tell you where she got this picture from?" He asks. I shook my head 'no'.

"Where do you keep this picture?"

"Well, before I was old enough to put it in my purse, I had it in a frame but now I just keep it in my purse." I whisper, taking my purse out and showing him the picture that was inside.

Okay, so maybe it was a little weird to have a picture of someone you didn't know in your purse. But, I had cherished it from childhood and I never wanted to let go of the feeling of having this imaginary friend, who was in fact real. As, I had photographic evidence - it's complicated to explain...

Ryan took a glance at the photo, his eyes widening in shock. "That's me." He says, a smile on his face. I take a glance at the picture, this little boy looked nothing like Ryan. Well, apart from the eye colour.

I laugh uneasily, unable to believe him because anyone can have the same eye colour right? There must be billions of people in the world, with brown eyes.

"I'm not joking (Y/N), it's me." He whispers, explaining that as he aged, his appearance began to change. Well, dramatically. He no longer had straight blonde hair, but rather a mass of curly chocolate brown hair, he was no longer short and chubby but quite thin and tall.

The little boy, who I had vowed in childhood would never leave me. Who became my best friend, throughout the times I needed him most. Had grown up and become my best friend of present day.

I got up off the swing set and hugged Ryan, I buried my face into his chest. Tears dampening his white vest top. "Thank you," I whispered. "Thank you for everything."
