I love this man so much. I'm currently watching Banana Fish, and the more I watch, the more I love and cherish Ash. So here's a one-shot for you all. Imagine yourself in the anime, comforting him. Enjoy. 💜

It was the middle of the night, rain pouring down in the streets of New York. Thunder and lighting clashing as if the sky was raging its anger. You were asleep in the condo your boyfriend owned, nuzzled up in the sheets before the sun came up. You then awoke to panting and whimpering next you in the bed. Slowly opening your eyes, you looked at the clock next to you as it read 1:30 AM. You sighed softly, turning your head to your lover as he was still whimpering in his sleep. Frowning at the sight in front of you, you slowly sat up, stroking his hair gently, hoping he would either wake up from his nightmare or calm down.

This would happen every night. You knew about Ash's past and all the pain and suffering he had to go through. But you never once judged him. You felt deep inside your heart you needed to be there for him. You loved him too much to see him like this. It killed you inside. When you found him almost dead in the library, you almost lost it. He was the missing piece in your heart that needed to be completed.

He loved you and made an oath since the moment he laid eyes on you to protect you. The bond between you two was unbreakable. It took him awhile to finally open up to you about his life and he was glad he could trust you. You never left his side, you never pressured him to open up to you, and you were always there in a snap to be by his side. He was grateful he had a wonderful person like you to love and cherish.

He kept whimpering and crying in his sleep, trying to run from his pain. You frowned deeply, shaking him a bit to wake up.

"Ash..." you whispered, but he didn't wake up. You kept shaking him gently to snap him out of it.

"Ash!"

As a loud clash was heard from the thunder, Ash woke up screaming and sat up, panting hard and crying from his nightmare, realizing he was back into the real world. He stopped and sighed covering his face, hoping he didn't wake you. But you were awake, watching him with tears in your eyes, scared for him. You hated seeing him like this, but you knew it wasn't his fault. He turned his head to you and gasped softly, feeling horrible for waking you.

"I'm sorry...how long have you been awake..?" He asked you, with sadness in his voice.

"I was up for awhile, but forget about me...are you feeling okay, my love...? Do you need anything...?" You asked softly, gently taking his hand, stroking it softly to comfort him.

He shook his head looking down, staring at your hands, gripping yours gently.

"I just need you, (Y/N)...I don't want to be alone...I'm so scared..." he choked as tears were streaming down his face, trying not to cry.

You smiled softly and moved your hand away, opening your arms to him.

"Come here, my love..." you said sweetly.

He looked at you again with tears streaming down and went into your arms, wrapping his arms around your waists and his face in the crook of your neck. You hugged him close to you, rubbing his back gently and leaning your head on his. You knew he wanted to cry, but he was being strong for you. You kissed his head gently and whispered sweet words.

"Let it out, Ash...I'm here...I will always be here and I'll never let you go...you don't have to hide your tears. It's okay to cry...we all do it...and there's nothing wrong with it...you don't have to tell me your nightmare...not until you're ready...but just know, that I love you, Ash. And I always will love you. You're not alone anymore, because I am here, to protect you no matter what..."

As he was listening to your sweet words, he finally broke down and sobbed in your chest, letting out all of his pain and sorrow to you. He gripped the back of your shirt as he kept sobbing hard, holding you close. And you let him cry while cooing to him, stroking his blonde hair you loved, and rubbing his back gently. After awhile, he calmed down, sniffles coming from him as he pulled away a bit looking down, so you wouldn't see his face. You gently cupped his cheeks, lifting his head up to make him look at you, wiping his tears with your thumbs as you looked into his beautiful green eyes. You leaned in and kissed his forehead tenderly and pressed yours against his.

"Thank you, my sunshine...I love you..." Ash whispered as he closed his eyes, smiling softly.

"I love you too, honey...forever and always..." you whispered back, pulling your head away a bit,
kissing his nose.

He chuckled a bit and leaned in kissing your lips sweetly. He always loved your soft lips on his, it brought him comfort and relaxation.

You kissed him back lovingly, pouring your feelings into the kiss, letting him know how much you meant to him and loved him.

Soon you two pulled away and laid back down, holding each other close as you both fell back asleep, peacefully with the sky calming down as well with the rain pouring gently. And for the first time, Ash was finally able to sleep more at ease, because of you.

Wow. I just had this in my head and I let it all out. I hope you enjoyed this, this is actually my first one-shot, so I hope you liked it! I promise I'll get back to my other story, I've been so busy but I never forgot it! I purple you all. 💜
P.S. I know he's dead, but I wanted to make a one-shot where he survived the stab, and living a better life with his s/o. I just finished the anime and read the last volume and I'm balling my eyes out because I don't believe he's dead. R.I.P Ash sunshine 💛😭
