I run a hand down my face, groaning as I walk out of the convenience store, plastic bag of candy in hand. My hair's a mess, bags are under my eyes, and I crave the sweet release of death. I work from home and am an author, and that job really takes a toll on me. Not because I have due dates or anything, but because I overwork myself to the core of my being. Even now, all I can think about is getting back to my book. Okay, so Toronto will end up kissing Jayda...
I shake my head, trying to clear writing from my thoughts for once. A woman should be able to walk to the store and back without thinking about her writing, right?
Not this woman, that's for sure.
I'm walking home now, looking at the green leaves decorating the trees around me.
California sure is pretty. Too bad there's always wildfires that destroy the beauty.
I sigh, knowing that my mindset could use some work. I have a habit of being overly cynical for no reason. Maybe I'm a wildfire, too. I destroy the beauty of a lot of things.
Ah, there I go again.
I see a bench in the distance, and the two people that are sitting on it...they look like...
The Game Grumps???
I freeze, blinking rapidly at the distant figures chilling on that bench.
Arin and Dan? Arin and Dan are sitting on a bench maybe a hundred feet away from me?
My eyes lock onto who I think is Dan, heat rising to my face. He's been a celebrity crush of mine since I started watching the Game Grumps, what, with his beautiful hair and his smile that can make any lady melt...
As I study "Dan", I come to realize that...
There is no way that that's not Dan.
I soon find out that there's no way that the dude he's sitting with isn't Arin.
Holy shit.
I have an opportunity to say hi to the Game Grumps and shower them with all the compliments in the world.
I go to Naruto run over to them, but my social anxiety kicks in. I begin to tremble, worried that I'll either make a fool of myself or that Arin and Dan will brush off my compliments and make me feel awkward.
I tell myself that the latter won't happen, since both men are extremely nice and caring. But as much as I tried to convince myself that the former wouldn't happen...
I know I'll make myself look stupid in one way or another. Hey, we're talking about (Y/N) (L/N) here. She always makes herself look stupid.
But I know that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. That I might never meet the Game Grumps if I don't take this chance.
That thought makes me walk to where the bench is. I stand in front of it and briefly triple-check that the two men on it are the Game Grumps. Don't judge me! I just wanna make sure I'm not praising random strangers.
Yep. They are definitely the Game Grumps.
Arin looks at me quizzically, probably wondering why I'm silently staring at him and his best friend, while Dan is looking at me with a small smirk on his face. He's eyeing me up and down, which makes me blush a little. He then leans over to Arin, whispers something in his ear, and looks back at me.
Whatever Dan said shocks Arin greatly. He raises his eyebrows and looks at Dan with wide eyes.
Dan then speaks. "Uh, hey. Can we help you?"
Aw, that voice.
I finally start talking, which is what I should have done a minute ago. I clear my throat and say, "Um...are you guys the Game Grumps?"
Both Dan and Arin smile. "Indeed we are," Dan says.
"Why, are you a fan?" Arin asks, turning his head to the side like a pit bull.
I scoff. "'Am I fan'...obviously! You guys are the best YouTube channel ever!"
Dan smiles wider and says, "Well, yeah. I mean, we've got the hottest person ever as our co-host." He then looks at Arin and raises his eyebrows, smirking.
Arin rolls his eyes. "Don't pay any attention to him. He's a cocky douchebag," he says to me.
I stifle the urge to agree with Dan, because that'd just be weird.
Even though I couldn't agree more.
"You're awfully full of yourself for someone who looks like a twig and who walks like a newborn deer," I taunt, smirking at Dan. "I think an insect is more built than you."
Dan's mouth falls open. He stares at me and mutters, "Holy shit. That's...my soul hurts..."
Arin laughs and playfully shoves Dan. "You just got roasted!"
"I really did," Dan states, staring at me with pathetic eyes. "...Do you really think an insect is more built than me? I think I'm...kinda built..."
I go red, knowing it'll be awkward no matter what I say. "Uh..."
Arin saves the day and tells Dan, "Don't make her answer that. It'll be awkward no matter what she says."
Thanks, Arin.
"True, true," Dan agrees. His head then perks up, like he realized something. "Wait! Did you take the 'you walk like a newborn dear' thing from 'Danny Don't You Know'? By Ninja Sex Party?"
I nod, smiling. "Yeah. That song is bomb as fuck."
Dan whistles. "Wow. A Game Grumps fan and a Ninja Sex Party fan..? That's a good ass person right there."
"WHAT ABOUT STARBOMB?!" Arin cuts in.
I roll my eyes. "Obviously! You guys are great singers/writers."
Dan looks at Arin and whispers something to him once again.
"Oooh!" Arin smiles, then nods at Dan.
I'm really confused at what's happening right now, but I don't question it.
Turns out I don't have to. Dan turns to me and says, "Hey. You seem like a really cool person. Arin and I kinda wanna get to know you better. Do you wanna come with us and grab a cup of coffee?"
I resist the urge to pinch myself, since I feel like I'm dreaming.
I just.
Got invited.
To grab.
A cup.
Of coffee.
With two.
Famous YouTubers.
What the fu—?
