It's been a few days since Dan and I became an item, and lemme tell you: those days were the best days of my life. We've been hanging out a lot ever since we became boyfriend and girlfriend, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Dan knows how to make me smile when I'm thinking about my parents, or when I'm just sad in general, and his humor is the kind that you can't not laugh at.
Right now is one of the times where we're hanging out, giggling like idiots. Dirty jokes always have got me, even if they make me question my entire existence. Dan smirks and pokes my leg, opening his mouth to say something.
I already know where this is going, so I cut him off with a laugh. "Stop, Danny!"
"Wait, wait, one more!" Dan says, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Please? I swear this'll be it."
I think for a minute, wondering if giving Dan the chance to tell this joke will be worth losing what's left of my innocence.
I decide that it is. Dan looks really excited to tell me this. "Fine. What is it?"
"Yes!" Dan cheers. "Okay, so what's the difference between a garbanzo bean and a chickpea?"
I look at Dan with a "bruh" look. "You realize that I watch Game Grumps, right? I already know the answer to this." Despite having heard the joke before, the thought of the answer still makes me giggle.
"Aw, yeah, I forgot about you watched Game Grumps," Dan mumbles sadly. "Damn, now I have to come up with another one on the fly."
"Well, maybe if you were skilled enough, you could do it," I scoff, poking Dan's side.
"I am skilled enough!" Dan whines. "I'll do it right now!" There's a small pause. Then he stutters, "U-um..."
I laugh, and Dan joins in. "Wow, what a wonderful joke," I say sarcastically, still laughing.
Dan pouts. "Maybe I should Google some..."
And then, my phone dings. A text message. I fish it out of my sweater's pocket and open the text. A confused expression appears on my face as I read it.
Dan notices this and rests his head on my shoulder, looking at my phone screen.
I let him, my expression unchanging.
The text is from Theo, and it reads,
Theo: Hey (Y/N)! Do you mind if I come over? I've got something to tell you.
"Hm," Dan hums in thought. "Wonder what he could have to tell you."
"Me too..." I then look at Dan, running a hand through his long, luxurious curls. He responds by humming in delight and closing his eyes. "Danny, would you mind if he came over?"
I either have Dan under my spell, or he just genuinely doesn't care. Probably both, to be honest. "Not at all," he says quietly.
I smile and remove my hand from Dan's hair, making him whine in disappointment. "Oh, hush. Okay, if you stop being a needy little boy, I'll pay you back with hair plays later, all right?"
That offer makes Dan smile. "All right! But I'll hold you to that," he says, nestling his head into the crook of my neck.
I roll my eyes, smiling to myself as I type a response to Theo's message.
Me: Yeah, that's fine! I don't think you'll mind, but on the off chance that you do, Dan's here. I can have him hang out somewhere if what you need to say needs to stay between the two of us.
