Gian Adam
I was sitting in the living room when I heard it. The sound of moaning. I gritted my teeth and my muscles tensed. I hated thinking about them doing that. He was so ugly and such a douche how he got Aubri I will never understand. She was so gorgeous and full of beauty so not the type of woman who would be around him let alone date him. Yet he managed to get to her before I could. I constantly kick myself for not telling her I loved her first. I know if I had just told her I was in love with her we would be together right now. But no I'm an idiot and let her go off to camp, where she met him, without saying "I love you".
I couldn't take the moaning anymore. I was about to drive my head through a wall. I grabbed my keys and headed out to my car to wait for Aubri.
Thirty minutes later she came down the porch stairs, looking beautiful as ever. Her long brown hair down, hanging almost to her waist, a plain army green t-shirt on and tight jean shorts.
Holy shit. She is so gorgeous.
She hopped in the passenger side, phone in hand. "Hey sorry I took so long. Something came up."
Oh I'm sure something came up.
Just the thought made me lose my appetite and the little food I had in my stomach turned.
"It's ok." I managed to get out between gritted teeth.
She turned to me and gave me a tight smile. "How was your day?"
I shrugged, not really in the mood to talk after what I heard. "Fine I guess."
"That's good." I shrugged again and felt her look at me. "Look I'm sorry about R can we just have a good night?"
It wasn't what she thought that was upsetting me. Yes I hated how he treated her, bossing her around, not letting her live her life, but I was upset at myself more than anything.
I gave her a smile. "Of course."
She leaned over and kissed my cheek. As much as I loved when she did that I didn't want a kiss from her. Not after what she had done with those lips. "Thank you. Whose turn is it to pick the music?"
I fought off every instinct telling me to scrub my cheek till it was raw. "You can pick."
She grinned and hooked her phone up to my speakers. Dirt Road Anthem came blaring through my speakers.
She smiled at me and started singing. I grinned and felt myself relaxing. Her singing was angelic, I could listen to it all day.
"I'm chilling on a dirt road. Laid back swervin like I'm George Jones. Smoke rolling out the window, an ice cold beer sitting in the console."
god her voice, it was perfect. Her little country accent suited the song and I couldn't help grinning.
She nudged me and I knew what she wanted. We sang the song together. She sang the first verse and chorus, I sang the second verse and we sang the rest together.
"I sit back and think about them good ol' days the way we were raised in our southern ways. And we like cornbread and biscuits and if it's broke round here we fix it." She laughed at the emphasis I put in the words and I couldn't help but smile.
"Yeah I'm chillin' on a dirt road Laid back swervin' like I'm George Jones Smoke rollin our the window An ice cold beer sittin in the console Memory lane up in the headlights Has got me reminiscing on the good times I'm turning off the real life, driving, that's right I'm hittin' easy street in mud tires that's right" we finished off the song and Aubri was focused on picking another song when her phone went off.
"Hello?" Her face fell a little. "But-" pause "but you said I could come." pause "no im not. I just I don't understand why you've changed your mind all the sudden." Pause.  "Ok. No I'm on my way." She sounded on the verge of tears.
I grabbed the phone. "Listen up douchebag. I've had enough of your shit. You told her she can come, so we're going out to dinner. You don't like it, tough. I'm not bringing Aubrielle home so suck it up, be a man and get over it. I'll bring her home when I'm good and ready. Goodbye." I hung up and put her phone in my door.
Aubri stared at me in shock. "Why would you talk to him like that?"
"Because I'm so sick and tired of him Bri. He's so controlling, you can't do anything you want because of him. You're a grown ass woman. The Aubrielle I know wouldn't of ever let anyone treat her this way. Yet you do for some reason. So have you changed Bri?"
Aubri's head hung low. "No." She said quietly.
"Yes you have." I pulled into the restaurant parking lot and looked at her. "Before you started dating him, if any man talked to you or treated you the way he does, you'd punch them in the nose, say fuck you and moved on. Why haven't you? You deserve someone who will respect and take care of you, let you grow and make your own choices not order you around all the time." You deserve someone like me. I'd never boss you around I'd never hurt you. I'd let you make your own choices and be the strong woman you can be. "Is his dick that good?" I ask a few moments later when she doesn't reply.
"Can we just go inside please? Its almost 5."
"Of course Bri." I opened my door and went over to help her out of my truck. I put my hands on her waist and lifted her down. She looked up at me and I had the urge to lean down and press my lips to her soft looking ones. The ones that just blew off the man you hate. I pulled away and headed in the building. Was that a look of disappointment in her eyes?
Don't be delusional Walker. You're seeing things, imagining things. You're hoping that was disappointment so you'd have a reason to go back and kiss her.
Yea. Kiss those lips that just blew her boyfriend off. Isn't that such a turn on? A second voice in my head said.
Stop it. You guys are friends. She's dating him. Get over it.
Easier said than done.
I stuffed my hands in my pocket and kept walking, wishing the voices in my head would shut up.
"Gian?"
