What nobody told me about love was that it burns. Nobody told me that if you're careful it can burn away the ice. Melt away winter, drain the gray and bring light again. Summer explosions and feelings of freedom. Of creation. Of power. Of a fleeting moment of flight. That one moment where everything feels right. You lock eyes and the fire reignites. It's burning through my viens. Holding me down but driving me insane. The sun shining through the rain. The beauty of the pain. Knowing that just because sometimes it hurts doesn't mean it's bad. It just means it's real. Fire isn't supposed to just be pleasant. Fire burns, its scorches, strips you bear and leaves room for new growth. New life emerging from destruction. Nobody told me that about love.

PoesiaFinished, completed poetry book. Wrote this in an hour so it's probably not the greatest but I put my heart and thoughts into it.
