I awoke to the sounds of the birds chirping outside my window but they weren’t peaceful and relaxing like the ones people woke up to in the movies, no, they decided to wake me up with the beautiful calls of loudness.

Prying myself away from my warm, comfy bed I waddled over to my bathroom only to be greeted by a zombie in the mirror. My dark brown, almost black hair was everywhere. A smoothie could have hidden in there, which would have been helpful because I was starving.

The green emerald eyes on my face glared back at me in an “I’m-really-tired-and-want-to-go-back-to-sleep-so-if-you-would-just-let-me-close-these-eyelids-back-over-myself-that-would-be-greatly-appreaciated-kthxbye” kind of look. Jesus did I look pale. I almost had myself convinced that I was a ghost but I remembered that I was supposed to be a zombie. How’s that for deep morning thinking?

Glancing over at my clock that read 6:53 (that’s probably the cause of my “deep morning thinking”) I calculated that I had plenty of time for a lovely, long shower. I was meeting Louis this morning for Starbucks, but Rob didn’t know this. I turned on the water waiting for it to warm up, peeling off my clothes I jumped into the shower and felt instantly relaxed as the droplets of water pelted down on my skin. I must have been in the shower for over ten minutes because I could faintly hear rob yelling something about ‘using up the hot water’. He has quite a strict showering time. ‘No more than 10 minutes’. Not wanting him to get into too bad of moods I turned the water off and hopped out of the shower. So much for a long shower.

I chucked on my skinny jeans along with my pink sweater and a pair of white heels. Just before walking out of my room I remembered that piece of jewellery I had bought last week, rummaging through my clutter on my desk I found the little bag and reached into it. Ah, yes this would look lovely. It was a cute owl necklace. I hung it around my neck with the owl resting just above my belly button.

I went downstairs to feed my cat, Oscar. He seemed pretty happy to see me and followed me as I walked into the kitchen to prepare myself some breakfast, a smoothie in fact. I don’t understand how people could eat muesli. It’s just so bland, I think that cardboard sprinkled with dirt would take a lot better.

Oscar jumped up onto the bench, looking for any food that he could scoff down and yes, I did just feed him. No matter what the cat eats he will not get fat. I wish I could be like that. I dumped the last of the strawberries into the blender along with all the other very important smoothie ingredients and pressed the “blend” button.

After finishing my smoothie and giving Oscar yet another bowl of cat food (yes, another) I unlocked my phone to see that the time was 8:16. Maybe I should get going now, Louis is probably waiting for me. I didn't even bother checking if Rob had gone, I knew he would be hanging out in a bar somewhere. He would probably only get home at around midnight. I picked up my phone and purse and walked straight out the front door.

I walked down the pathway towards Louis’ house; it’s about a twenty minute walk. I had to walk you see because I didn’t have a car. I think that was the only thing that mum and Rob agreed on. No matter how much I asked or worked they would never give in. I looked upwards to the dark, gloomy sky, searching for just a little patch of blue. No such luck. I hate cold days. The wind was blowing everywhere; I silently rejoiced for being smart this morning and putting my hair up. I knocked the door of the Tomlinson residence to only be greeted by Louis himself. We hugged and then I was let in to his beautiful home. Lou’s house didn’t smell like smoke, nor did it have empty beer bottles here and there. I wish I could live here. I know that I’m 18 and I could move out if I wanted to but where in this god damn world would I get the money? I can’t even keep a simple job. I’ll just put ‘money’ on the ‘dreams list’. Louis has loads of money from his job; well I guess you would if you were part of a very popular boy band.

“I’m sorry I had to hang up on you last night Lou. Rob is such a tight ass.”

“That’s fine I understand.” He said, pretending to get upset. “I know when I’m not wanted.”

We both laughed at that, me more than him. I love Louis, not in that kind of way, in a “best-friend-known-each-other-for-a-long-time” way. We met when I moved here after mum and Rob got married, about 8 years ago, and we’ve been friends ever since. Louis has moved since then, he used to live two doors down. He’s always been there for me and me for him. I followed Lou into the kitchen and through to the garage. I jumped into his sleek, black car just as Louis put the key into the ignition. We pulled out of the garage and started driving down the road. The car trip pretty much consisted of us singing at the top of our lungs to the radio; Louis’ voice is absolutely beautiful whereas mine sounds like a cat being strangled. I think it’s safe to say that I was exaggerating a little bit about my vocals; but trust me, I’m pretty bad.

We got a park right outside Starbucks. After me and Lou did our little victory dance over his parking skills we walked into the café. I sat down at a booth as Louis went over to buy our drinks. While waiting for him I whipped out my phone only to see… nothing. I guess you could say that I wasn’t the most popular person at all really.

I saw Lou walking over with our drinks, one in each hand. He passed over my drink before sitting down and taking a swig of his.

“You know Lexie I realised something last night.”

“Uh huh.”

“Well, that you haven’t met the boys yet.”

You see, Louis was part of One Direction, along with his other four mates. Thinking about this I also realised about how bizarre it was that I hadn’t met them yet.

“Huh, that’s actually really weird Lou. You know what? I think that we should meet up soon.”

“Well not that soon because we just got off tour so they are all at home with their families.”

“What about you then?”

“I just wanted to be with my bestest friend!” he said whilst putting on the biggest grin.
