"I really apologized... but you must understand already how complicated the protocol of becoming my disciple. The gathering, discussion, earning approval, it will need a really long time." Durna start his speech as soon as Ekalaya sitting down in front of him. Ekalaya try to keep his disappointment unnoticed. Staying composed, he waits until Durna continued his speech. "Although, I feel there is something special inside yourself. I don't want your skill goes to waste. So.. feel free to learn in my academy. You can join any class you want, or using any practice fields around here. If you still interested learning from me it is."

Ekalaya couldn't hold his excitement, "Of course! That's more than enough from me. I will do my best to learn diligently in your academy, Sir." Ekalaya swell up in happiness, he can imagine how proud his people to him if he comeback with new knowledge and skills from the greatest teacher around. And that's how Ekalaya starts his study in Durna's academy.

---

Day by day goes by, seasons come and changed, Ekalaya and Anggraeni were there for one year already. Lots of things happen in a year. Aswatama became their bestfriend is one of them. But also how Ekalaya picked up all archery lesson available and mastering it. Fast. Even when he mostly tend to practice by himself, well accompanied by Aswatama and Anggraeni, but without Durna supervision nonetheless.

And it started to disturb Ekalaya. The longing to be recognized by his unofficial teacher is getting stronger every day. Until one day, a really vivid dream comes to his sleep. Durna, watching him practice while smiling proudly. That dream haunted him for days. He couldn't just forget it.

"Aswatama..", Ekalaya call his friends who helps him tidy up his practice equipment. "Can I ask for your help?"

"Sure bro, whatever you need. You seem a bit off these days you know? Why? Why? What do you need?" Aswatama smiles and get too excited as usual.

Relieved that Aswatama seems eager to help him, Ekalaya told him about his dream. He told about the practicing ground, how its calm and surrounded by trees, how he pictured Durna watching him practices, how he felt about his dream... About he wants to make his dream to be a reality...

"Uhm... okay. Wait. Let me thi—I know how! I mean I know this place that we can use for training. Its beautiful, and deep in the forest too, you can practice as long as you wish. I don't know about making my father attend your practice session though.... How about making a duplicate? You know some full-size sculpture or things? How about it? I mean we need to clear up some trees and bui—" Aswatama suddenly stop when he felt Ekalaya hugging him.

"I know I can count on you, Aswatama"

----

Making a dreams come true definitely not easy. Even with Aswatama help, Ekalaya still needs days to finishing his new practice ground. But then he was satisfied with the result. It looks exactly like what he picture in his dream. Even the full-size sculpture that just finished today looks amazing.

"Y'know its kinda creepy to see how similar that is" Aswatama says while pointing to the sculpture. "Its feels like my dad is here. Uuh creepy."

"Aswatama, but that's the point. Hihi. That supposed to be similar, cowards" Anggraeni chirped out, while sweeping the ground.

"What?? What did you called me?" Aswatama getting triggered, as usual they were both messing around while Ekalaya looks at them with a smile.

After a while, he saw Aswatama went out, while his lovely wife sits down reading some books. He decide to try out his new training ground. He starts preparing all his equipment. His target, his arrow, his bow, he was preparing all well. But then when he start focusing, he heard a dog barking loudly.

Shoosh

It missed completely.

Ekalaya felt his face redden. He was ashamed that his first shot in front of his "teacher" was a complete failure. It's the first time he felt supervised his teacher and he messed up terribly. Trying to contain his anger, he released a set of arrows toward the dog sound. The faint painful bark mark his successful aim.

Taking a deep breath, he started to aim once more.

Bullseye.
