They say that once you find your soulmate that there is nothing more exhilarating than being with them. My mom never met her's and my dad met his when I was 10, it was a whirlwind that nobody expected. You have what they call a soul mark. It can be anywhere on your body and you have from the time of birth to the day you die. My mom died when I was 12 and left me to live with my dad and his soulmate, Jared. I didn't have anything against him other than the fact that he took my dad away from me when I was 10, he was a pretty nice guy but I don't think he was ready for a family when he met my dad. My soul mark was a tree that started at my wrist and went up to my forearm. I find it ironic, I love trees and my soul mark is a tree. I wonder how my soulmate feels about trees. Dad, Jared and I are moving today. Well Jared has already moved into the new house, he started a new job two towns over, so now Dad and I are moving into the new house. Dad wanted to wait until I had a break from school, which just so happens to be Christmas break. It doesn't bother me much this is the town where my mother died and everyone knew her and my best friend moved away a couple of months ago, so I have nothing here. I start school there tomorrow because today was the last day of their break.

"Kristina get up honey. It's time to get ready for school."

"Mmm okay, dad. Give me a minute."

"Alright. Oh, by the way, Jared is taking you to school today."

Here the thing with me and Jared, he didn't want kids when he met my dad but he didn't want to live without my dad and he despises me, the only reason we try to get along is for my dad. I want to be mad at my dad for choosing Jared and not my mom but from what I've heard it's really hard to be without your soulmate so I can't be mad at him for following his heart, he's my dad after all.

I pull on my black skinny jeans and my favorite black oversized hoodie with a guitar that turns into a tree on the back. It's big and oversized and swallows me whole, just the way I like it. My best friend 8th-grade year gave it to me and then 2 months before he died. I've kept it with me since then, never letting it go, never letting him go. Jared pulls up to the school.

"Alright kid, be good. I know you didn't want this move. You're dad and I don't want any phone calls, you hear?" He says it like I'm a bad child. I hang out in the back of the classroom and don't talk to anyone. I was like that until I met Andrew and then after he died I reverted back to it but then along came Emilee and was like Andrew and brought me out of that dark little shell until she told me she was moving. Staying in the back and not talking to anyone is my way of coping with things. That's why it didn't really care about moving here. I get to the front office and get my schedule. Thankfully I have math first period, its always been my strong suit. When I get to my locker I find people leaning up against it making out.

"Um excuse me, that my locker that you are currently sucking face on. Can you move please?"

"Who are you? I've never seen you around before. Besides this is an empty locker, why should I have to move?" Says the girl as the guy just stares at me.

"You wouldn't know me and I probably won't ever talk to you again unless I catch you up against my locker again. So again, I'll ask nicely one more time, will you please get off my locker with you suck face session?" The guy just scuffs.

"What are you gonna do if we don't? My dad's the principle he won't get on to me." says the girl once again.

"It's a good thing I don't rely on teachers and the principle now isn't it. I've got a black belt in karate and jiu-jitsu plus police combat training." She looks at me stunned as the guy she's with starts pulling her away.

"Now can anyone here show me where the gym is as well as Mrs.Lane's math class," I say out to the crowd that gathered. One single hand rises and comes out of the crowd towards me.

"Hi, my name is Remington but everyone calls me Remi. What you did was amazing. No one ever stands up to her. What's your name?"

"Kristina. I just moved here from Blue Ridge. Can you show me Mrs.Lane's class is first? Once I'm in the gym I won't leave until right before the bell rings so I would like to know where her class is first."

"Yeah sure. Not a problem. What do you plan on doing in the gym, if you don't mind me asking?"

"I don't. It depends. If you have a punching bag I'll probably do that. If you don't then I'll probably do some Cardio, but it all depends on what you have."

"Oh, so your one of those girls okay. This is Mrs.Lane's classroom and right down the hallway there is the gym."

"Okay. Thank you, Remi for showing me around." And I walked down the hallway to the gym and checked out all of the equipment that they have.
