Ebony started at Jay with such a look of confused disgust, he hardly noticed that all of his siblings had backed away from him as if they were afraid that she would violently throw him across the room. Thinking about it, she probably would. He nervously pushed his glasses up his nose.
"I... I mean... there's your knee," Jay said, pointing at Ebony's scarred and bleeding knee. The scarring began to show through her mid thigh-high socks.
"A-and there hasn't really been anyone to talk to except for them." Jay was nervous now, and fumbled through his words.
Ebony gave it some thought.
I may die sooner, so that's a plus. What even are these guys? Why am I even considering trusting them. So what if I have nowhere to stay. They're not even human. Why am I so-
"Sure. Whatever," she said nonchalantly. All of the people's? faces subtly lit up, and after Ebony went through all of the mythical creatures she knew of with fangs and wings, she realized what they were.
Vampires. God, I make so many bad decisions. Also, I'm tired and my knee hurts.
She began laughing quietly, which was only cause for more concern.
"I hate my life so much right now," she laughed, tears in her eyes. And then she passed out.
