Chapter 5

I swished in and out of consciousness. I remember being carried out of a white room and then staring out at the grey sky. I also remember being dropped gently on concrete.

“Hello?” I heard a female voice. “Hel- Kris?!” I looked up tiredly. It was Evie, and she was staring at me like I was an alien. “Oh my god!” She exclaimed.

Then I fell back into unconsciousness.

When I woke up again, it was for good. I looked around and saw that I was in Evie’s basement. Evie was standing in front of me holding a wet cloth to my burnt arms.

The cloth instantly healed the burns. “What is this?” I asked. Evie looked up, relieved. “Thank god your ok!” She cried out.

“This is just water mixed with baking soda. Since the vinegar is acidic, the baking soda neutralizes the sting.” She explained to me.

“By the way, what happened?” Evie asked. “I hear my doorbell ring and I find you unconscious with burn marks all over your skin.”

At first I struggled to remember, but then it came back to me. “It was Kol! He knocked me out and brought me to this creepy bitch who burned my arms, looking for the opal.”

Evie had a murderous look on her face. “I swear to God I will make that son-of-a-bitch wish his mother swallowed him when he was born!” She exclaimed.

After Evie gave me some tips on what to do if Kol or creepy bitch tried to hurt me again, I left for my house.

When I got there, I realized how hungry I was and decided to eat some cereal and watch Tom & Jerry.

As soon as I got up to go to the bathroom, the doorbell rang. I went to the bathroom and came out quickly and I opened the door.

Kol was standing there looking slightly nervous. I felt anger swell up in my body. “You bastard!” I screamed and I lunged at him.

I punched him in the nose three times before Kol finally got in the right position to hold my hands away from me.

“Look, I know your mad, but in my defense, I really didn’t know that the opal was gonna be used to destroy mankind. I swear I thought the opal was going to make my dimension a better place.”

“Why the hell are you here?!” I shouted at him.

“Because I want to help you.” He said. I looked at him with disbelief. Then I scoffed.

“Right. You want to risk your life to save a race you have despised since forever. What makes you think I’d believe a freaking word you say?” I shouted.

He looked at me with that same slightly nervous aura. “Because I’m the one who broke you out of that torture room.”

“So why do you wanna help again?” I asked. Kol sighed. This was about the tenth time I had asked him this question. Although he didn’t dare give a sarcastic answer, I could tell he was getting annoyed.

“Because, as much as I hate humans, demolishing their entire race is too extreme.” He replied.

“I don’t trust you, but I am willing to let you help us. If you even look at the opal without my or Evie’s permission, I will cut off your balls and feed them to you in a spoon.”

“Personally I prefer forks.” He muttered under his breath. I glared at him and he looked away.

“Ok. “ I said. “Time to tell Evie.” That seemed to gain his attention. “What?!” He exclaimed. “We’re gonna tell crazy bitch?!” My jaw dropped.

“The only reason why you are not laying on the ground, brain dead is because that crazy bitch doesn’t like to kill assholes. She likes to get even.

“And if you want me to keep her from getting even, also known as beating you up until you are in a coma, I suggest you don’t call her crazy bitch.” I snapped.

Sorry for the long wait. Just started high school and...
