Hoseok's POV
I stand with Yoongi, staring up at our father's empty home. My heart lurches as my eyes threaten to tear up. Yoongi Pat's my back.
"Why are we here, Yoongi?"
"This is where I live now, bro. And soon, you will too."
My mouth falls open. "What? How?"
"Well, you know dad owns the house. Well apparently he had written a will long before...he disappeared. And guess who he leaves the house to?"
I shrug, thinking about dad missing and people already writing him off as dead makes me sick.
Yoongi smiles. "His two sons. Hobi, dad wants us both to live here."
I swallow the sadness clawing at my heart. The tears I had been holding burst free. I weep, unable to control it. Yoongi wraps his arms around me.
"Hobi, it's going to be okay. We will find him again. Even if we have to do it ourselves."
"I miss him so much, Yoongi! And I hate living with mum. She scares me. I have to talk to her like I'm a baby. And her boyfriend is just...wrong."
"Has he hurt you?" Yoongi looks into my eyes.
"No, he hasn't. But I don't like the way he looks at me."
"I'm sorry, bro, I will get you out of there. Do you feel okay to go inside?"
I stare at the dark empty house. The one place where I always felt safe. Now it gives off an ominous creepy presence. But this is where my father lived. I need to be here to feel close to him again. So I nod. "Yes, I want to be at home."
Yoongi puts an arm around me and guides me inside. It's cold, and I shiver. Everything is just as it was the last time I was here, the last time I saw my father.
"We're going to find him," Yoongi says. "And where better to look for clues than his home?"
"You think he left something to tell us where he is?"
"I don't know. But I hope so."
Then came a sharp knock on the door and I jump, fearful that it might be mum or her boyfriend, come to drag me back.
"It's okay," Yoongi says. "I asked someone to help us. I know you really like him, and I want you to feel safer."
Yoongi opens the door; there stood smiling is Jungkook.
"Kookie?!"
"Hey, gorgeous."
Relieved, I run into his arms.
"Woa, Hobi! It hasn't been that long since I saw you." He giggles.
"I don't care. I missed you."
He laughs again and kisses my head. "So, I hear we have an investigation to do. First of all, where did your father spend most of his time? Because looking elsewhere will show us nothing."
"Well, he was always working in the basement," I tell him.
"Alright. Then show the way and let's get to work."

Jungkook's POV
My first thought when entering the basement was, wow. This guy must be the killer. Once I looked closer, however, I see that Hoseok's father was hunting the killer. He has every piece of newspaper article about the case pinned to a wall, along with scraps of paper that he had scribbled notes upon. Clothing dummies lay on tables with limbs missing and wounds carved into their faces and remaining body parts. There are also piles notebooks on a desk.
Yoongi sighs heavily, running a hand through his thick blonde hair. "I don't know what the fuck to make of all this."
"It's his work." Hoseok shrugged. "He told me he was helping the police work on the case."
I stare at Hoseok. "The police will have searched through all of this when he disappeared right?"
Hoseok pouted. "I don't know. I wasn't here."
"What If he figured it all out?" I thought aloud. "The killer may be found out your dad knew, and that's why he was taken."
Hoseok gasps and shakes his head. "What if they've hurt him?!"
I stroke his arm. "Don't think that. We don't know anything yet. We should start with his notebooks. If he left something that tells us where he is, we will find it."
"Okay." Yoongi grabs a book; he sits at the desk and opens the book. "Then let's find him."
