Chapter 1: New Job

[ Sapphire's PoV ]

My fingers were white as I drove on Studio 5's property. Today was my first day working under my brother, and I was nervous and excited. I was 36 and had been working at a dead end job to make it through college to finally receive my degree in video animation and digital editing. It had taken too many years to follow my passion but the day was here.

My brother had told me the moment the right job had opened at his work, and it happened to be in his department too. I exhaled slowly as I parked my car, and gathered my bag and stepped out of my car. My auburn hair moved in the wind as I worked up the courage to head inside. Entering the large building I spoke with the receptionist who pointed me to the right place. I opened the door slowly and stepped into the office. My nerves were on fire as at least four men turned to look at me.

"Saph! You made it" my brother spoke first, moving forward and embracing me in a hug. Then he stepped to the side and began the introductions.

"The first guy to your right is Gavin Free, Michael Jones is right beside him then Ray Narvaez Jr and then the two missing are Jack Patillo and Jeremy Dooley." As he finished speaking, I nodded at everyone before he led me to an desk at the far end of the desks, this one had only the basic set up with nothing personal on it.

"This will be your desk. You are set beside Jeremy and I'm just beside him so if you find him odd then we can switch, ok?" He asked as I nodded with a smile.

"Geoff I'll be fine, promise" I reassured my brother before setting my bag on the floor beside my chair. Settling down in the gaming chair, I dug through my bag and grabbed a few personal items I'd had at my previous desk. A framed picture of dad, mom, me and Geoff, as well as a picture of me and my cat. I smiled as I booted up the computers in front of me. As I shifted through the different programs, a creaking desk noise drew my attention from the screens to the chair beside me. A man now sat in the chair and night I add, he was hot. He was short but taller than me, he had no hair on his head but a beautiful beard, muscled arms, and as he looked over at me, the most gorgeous brown eyes. I felt my skin tinge pink as we made eye contact.

"Well, hello there. Names Jeremy or Lil' J, what's yours?" He wore a carefree smirk as he waited.

"Nice to meet you Jeremy, my name is Sapphire Ramsey" His smirked dropped for a second before a smile reappeared.

"So you're Geoff's younger sister" He asked.

"Yeah, but only by a couple years" I replied, enjoying talking to him. He nodded as he turned away and started up his systems. As I finished familiarizing myself with the computer system in front of me, I heard Jeremy clear his throat.

"What made you wanna join this company?" He asked, casting glances at me as I did the same.

"I'd always enjoyed playing video games with Geoff when we were younger, and I ended up going to college for video animation and digital editing when Geoff announced he'd helped Burnie build this company. After I heard that, I knew where I wanted to work after college" I told him, halfway through my words turning to face him again while he faced me.

Jeremy nodded before our conversation came to a halt. I finished checking out what applications I had and worked through less familiar ones. Eventually I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around to see Gavin, a light blush on his face, as he went to speak.

"Micoo, Lil' J, Lindsay, Geoff and I are going for bevs, perhaps you'd like to come?" He asked. I nodded, shutting down my computer and gathering my purse with my phone, keys and wallet.

"Um, Sapphire may I ride with you to the bar? I like traveling with Geoff but I'd like to know you a little better" Gavin asked and I caught a huff from behind me and shrugged it off and nodded.

"Definitely" I smiled as I led the way through the building to my metallic blue 2020 Malibu. My plate said "Blebrd" which was my favorite song. I settled into the drivers seat and Gav slid in the passengers seat.

"Do you have the name of the bar?" I asked, turning my car on and plugged my iPhone in.

"Flitwicks Bar and Brewing" He said and I typed it into my maps and pulled off Studio 5's parking lot and began the 15 minute drive towards the bar.
