I wrote this because they need to know. They need to know what we have been through, what happened. They need to know that we were people. That we might not have been like them, looked like them and acted like them but we were people. We are people

This is the monthly mandatory letter sent out by President Melcome. If you opt to not read the letter, you may be at risk of failing to follow future protocol:

As we all know, our home, Base Torrance was created just before the first nuclear bomb hit. Since then we have grown as a community. We have learned the price of war; our ancestors have learned the cost of hunger and we must now deal with the war against the Curst.

I appreciate that everyone from sectors one to four understands the struggles we all face in our world. As sectors one and two celebrate years of curse freedom, we hope that sectors three and four will strive for this. I know that as long as we support each other and turn in the monsters that live among us, you will someday be able to reach the clean status one and two hold.

A person is most likely to develop a curse between the ages of ten and twenty, so be vigilant. Any strength curse from one to three can be dangerous, so for your safety you must contact a member of the guard immediately, if you suspect someone. I appreciate that this can be threatening, but your community will thank you.

I understand that people are worried about 'declaration seventeen: No person under the age of twenty-one may be killed for obtaining the curse' but I can assure you that I am still working to get that overturned. However, for now, I wish for no citizen to lose sleep at the idea of a Curst getting loose from the prison. I can assure you that this is not possible.

Finally, we are all attempting to recover after the tragic and shocking curse eruptions in three and four. It had been confirmed that the curst children responsible for the destruction have managed to kill around half of both of the school's populations. Our thoughts go out to the families involved, but I can assure you that the responsible parties are being dealt with.

However, on a more positive note, these outbursts led us to an entire Curst family from three. Both children have been moved to the prison compound. Unfortunately, the mother was killed in the raids, but I can assure you that we will soon air the father's execution during mandatory viewing.

Here's for our bright and clean future,

Melcome Sharp
