Today is my 12th birthday. I've seen grandma a lot more the past few years. I've heard mama and grandma talking about Lisa and me.Lisa is 5 years old. Father is still mean, meaner than before. He leaves for long periods of time. Lasting at the most up to three weeks. Mama has been going out when father is gone to steal. She takes as much she can. Mama is having me trained in boxing. Nathan has been my coach for the past year. I see him twice a week, I need to protect mama and Lisa.

Avelaine stood at the stove preparing lunch for her and the children. She preferred making food such as eggs for the kids rather than herself. Today that's all she could snatch without being caught by unwanted eyes.
Lisa sat on the counter learning the spelling for her name as well how to say it correctly.
Lain hummed softly listening to Lisa's small mumbles to her imaginary friend Zon.Lain took a deep breath of the sweet calming air around her. She loved the feeling when Henry was out. With him almost gone a month she could care less, he probably got wrapped up in the wrong crowd and ended up dead. Avelaine just loved how she and her lovely kids were safe. For now.
------------------------------------------------"Mama?" Blake called out when there was a knock on the door. Avelaine's face dropped, turning off the stove she picked Lisa up and walked over to Blake giving him Lisa. "Take her to the room and stay there until i say, okay?" She said rubbing Blake's cheek softly and kissing his head. Blake listened going straight to the room and closing the door behind him.
He held Lisa tight to his side, looking around the room he saw how empty it really was. The paint on the walls were peeling, water damage on the ceiling causing it to have a horror movie feel to it. Cobwebs decorated the corners, floor boards cracked and missing, nails scattered around the floor by the lonely window. The window sloppily boarded up, cracks big enough for a small hand to fit through. Blake looks for a safe place to put Lisa, he saw a small nest looking pile of old blankets.
He put Lisa down on the pile and went over to the window. " Brother what doing?" Lisa tried speaking to her brother. Blake looked over his shoulder "I'm looking Lisa." He replied.
Blake fit his hand into the crack between the boards. As his hand entered he felt around lightly. The window behind the boards was cracked and could easily be broken with a little force. Feeling around more he could tell there was a sharp object on the windowsill, it was just out of reach. Pulling his hand back he cleaned his hand of dust and cobwebs. "Lisa, do you have paper in here?" Blake asked sitting in-front of her. "Yes" Lisa said getting up and walking to a wall, pulling a piece of wood away and grabbing a bag of supplies her mother gave her.
Grabbing the bag from her Blake retrieved a crayon and paper, he quickly wrote down a note. Putting back the crayon and placing the bag back where Lisa got it. He folded the paper and put it underneath the bag. "Listen when you are older and bigger, you read that only at that time, keep it hidden for everyone, even mama. Do you understand Lisa?" Blake questioned. She nodded quickly placing the wood back, making the wall look untouched.
Avelaine came to the room shortly after, her lips a shocking red color along with her hair messy. "Blake sweet heart, Nathan is here for you." Blake nodded and kissed Lisa on the cheek going to his mother to hug her. "Okay mama, i love you." He mumbled into the hug. Lain hugging him back replied "and i love you B."
