"Excuse me ma'am, but this spot is already taken." said the voice. I looked up and was surprised to see the uncle of Darren staring at me with no sign of getting pissed off. Why of all people? Is this a torture for me? I'm not in my best mood to have some fight with him and not in this fancy place. I keep my position neutral and natural.
"Sorry I didn't know it was taken. I thought it was vacant." I simply said, not in the mood to fight with him. I grab my phone in the table, my bag and other things beside the chair. I stood up ready to leave but he blocked me and now where standing face to face. I looked at him with full curiosity in my eyes.
"What?" I said keeping my voice low, holding myself not getting pissed off.
"It's okay, you don't have to leave. I don't blame you. I went to the restroom not thinking what other people may thought that the seat will be vacant. We can share the table, if you want." He explained with a playful smile. Surprised to what he said I looked at him and gave my fake smile.
"No thanks, I can find another table." I said annoyance in the corner of my voice.
"Look, there's no vacant seat." He said still giving me that hideous smile. I scanned the restaurant, hoping for an empty spot but he win. I gave a sigh of defeat.
"Okay, but I don't have time to fight with you. So please just keep your mouth shot and just eat." I said full of emphasis.
"Why is that? I have a mouth to speak. So I can say whatever I want." He said smirking at me. He sat down to the opposite chair, facing at my previously chair. Well, he got a point in that but I'm tired to make a fight with him, not now.
"Okay, Whatever." I said and rolled my eyes. I sat down to my chair and now where facing to each other, like we were a longtime friend hanging out together and chatting some nonsense topics. I placed again my things and bags in the empty chair beside me.
After a few minutes, the waiter approaches us to take our orders. I choose some carbonara because I'm on a diet. He chooses some spicy chicken wings whatsoever.
"Sir, Maam. Would like to try our special menu? It was our promo for couples." said the waiter after taking our orders. Does he thinks that were a couple? That was a very unforgiveable comment. But I don't blame him; he doesn't know the whole story so I will forgave him.
"No" we said in unison. We looked at each other and I met his gaze. I diverted my eyes to the wall to break the eye contact thing because it's a little awkward I guess.
"No, were not a couple." He simply said.
The waiter looked at us with embarrassment and apologized to us and headed his way to the counter.
"What the heck was that?" he asked full with disbelief.
"I don't know. Maybe he thinks were a couple." I shrug.
"Why does he think so?" he said leaning his arms on the table.
"I don't know. You better ask him." I said not wanting to discuss what happened.
"You know what. You have this quite temper that I never imagined." He said but this time there's this unbelievable smile in his face.
"I'm not that hot tempered; I'm just not in the mood. But I'll take that as a compliment." I said smiling but this time it came naturally.
"There you go. You learn how to smile." he said playfully. I pause for a moment and processed what he just said.
"Everybody knows how to smile. I'm not a poker face type." I said in defense, while hiding something inevitable feeling that I can't understand.
