Background: We all have seen those emotional military family videos that just make us wanna cry ourselves to sleep. That is how I picture this music video to be. The storyline of this music video is based upon a mother and son whose father/husband has left for the army.

Plot line:

*music begins* The scene fades in. The setting is on a rolling hill; the grass is long and green and the sun is peeking over the top as it is setting for the night. A man and woman are smiling together as they swing their son, blonde and maybe 2 years old, back and forth by his arms. The boy is laughing while the parents stare deep into each other's eyes with passionate love. The parents stop swinging the boy and release his hands. He gets down on the grass and pushes off, rolling slowly down the hill as the parents hold hands chasing him down. The scene fades out. *Hunter begins singing/scene change* The scene cuts to a different setting. The camera is looking down on the mother and her son laying in a king size bed. The room is light from the sun shining through a window and the mother begins to wake up. She opens her eyes and rubs them. A bit of mascara smears across her puffy eyes from the night before and we know she had been crying. She rolls over, not disturbing her son, and looks at the nightstand. A picture frame sits there alone, next to her empty tissue box. It's a family picture: her, her son, and her husband who has been deployed in the army for the last 7 monthes. This picture was shot the day he left; we know this because he is standing with them in his army uniform and bags packed. A soft tear falls from the mothers face as she looks at picture frame and a small note taped to the top corner saying "I'll be home soon! I love you!" *chorus/scene change* The mother walks into her house followed by her son, who now looks to be a bit older but not by much. We see them sitting at a long dining table, just the two of them. The mother hands her son a plate of food. He is reluctant to eat it and quickly runs away from the table. The mother sits and awaits the return of her son with an extra plate in hand. The boy places the plate at the head of the table, where his dad would usually sit, and anxiously waits again for the arrival of his father for dinner. His father has already missed 3 months worth of dinner. The tears stream from his mothers eyes and the boy sits down on his seat, head buried between his legs and silently weeping to himself. *verse 2/scene change* Time has passed again and the mother and boy have aged about a year. The scene opens on the mother sitting on her bed beside her night stand. She shuffles through some old pictures of her and her husband: one from their senior prom, a few from their wedding day, another from the day their son was born, and the last from the day of her husband's departure. She smiles as she sees how happy she once was and gentle puts them on her night stand again. *quick scene change* The mother and son are sitting at the dining table again with a house phone. They smile and laugh as they talk to their husband/father as the first time in a while. Both are in tears as they speak but they try to make the most out of it. The mother reaches into her pocket and hands the boy a picture of the three of then hugging the day the father left. The boy holds the picture to his chest as he walks away from the table once the phone call ended. *chorus* Time passes again and the boy looks to be about 10. He walks into his bed room and throws off his backpack to the ground. He makes his way to a desk in the corner where he sits and puts his head down. We see tears streaming down his red face as he pulls out a crumpled up letter from his pocket. He rubs his eyes and wipes off some tears, then reopens the letter addressed from his father's army unit. From our POV, the note is blurry but three simply letters stand out: M.I.A. The boy wasn't supposed to see this letter his mom threw out. It just confirmed the long dreaded news of his father's disappearance a few months before. The boy rips the letter in frustration and throws himself on his bed sobbing. *break/instrumental/scene change* The scene completely changes and we see people dressed in black. A huge American flag is flying above a few rows of cloth-covered chairs. The casket lay in the front of a small gathering and we see the boy and mother holding hands and crying. The body of their husband/father was recovered and lay in the open casket. We cannot see in from our camera angle, but we watch as multiple people come and lay roses in the casket and pay their respects. The boy and his mother are the last to approach the casket. From his pocket, the boy takes out the picture his mom gave his from the day his father originally left. He stares at the picture of his animated father and then back at the casket. The boy quickly turns away as he starting sobbing, like he doesn't want his father to see him like that. He takes one last look at the picture and crumples it back into his pocket for safe keeping. He walks over to a bench and sits down with his head hanging low. *final verse* The scene doesn't change but we know time passed again because the boy is now grown up. From the back he looks to be in his young 20s. He sits on the bench and reaches into his pocket. He pulls out the picture from years before. The camera circles around and we begin to see his face. Hunter wipes a tear from his watery eyes as he watches the sun set behind his father's grave. *music ends*
