The Night We Vowed To Never Be Apart

It was another late night in Cappy town, The castle was much more quite than usual that night due to the King still being out chasing after Kirby again. Everyone in the kingdom was fast asleep...except for one loyal servant. Who waited for his king to return. "...Whats taking ya so long to get back sire...I mean its only Kirby." Escargoon muttered quietly too himself staring out the window. He looked almost saddened by the fact he wasn't around at that moment. Escargoon sighed heavily still looking saddened as he stared outside there castle. Remembering a particular night kind of similar to this one. "I need you around sire, Hurry back already..." He muttered once more closing his eyes and remembering that special night like it was yesterday.


About a year earlier...


An angry king paced in his castle after being defeated once again by the small pink alien. He was furious at failing once again. "..Why. Why didn't that monster work on him Escargoon! Everythin bout it was perfect! How did it fail!" King Dedede yelled out in frustration. Escargoon gently stood near the throne and spoke as calmly as he could. "I don't know sire. Maybe the monster wasn't strong enough..." King Dedede turned to Escargoon still looking frustrated. "THEN WHAT IS STRONG ENOUGH. What is gonna kick this alien back where he belongs!" Escargoon panicked a little and kind of just spouted out "I-I really d-don't know!"

King Dedede's fist clenched as he walked off a bit. " Maybe its cause all them cappy's are always defending that little pink disaster waiting to happen! Instead of respecting me!" Despite Escargoon being a bit scared King Dedede was going to clobber him out of frustration he moved closer to him as he spoke. " S-sire with all due respect... Maybe they just don't feel like you do about yourself..." King Dedede was looking away now, fists still clenched except now he was...shivering.

"Why do they like Kirby more then me....A-...Am I not good enough? Or is it just me?"

Escargoon was surprised by this. Was the king...Upset? Over not being cared about? "N-no sire that not it.." The king looked behind him at Escargoon for a moment. His eyes looked genuinely sad and angry. His eyes even looked as if there were tears in them. "Yeah well...I'm starting think I should not even give a damn bout it no more..." Escargoon put his hand on the kings shoulder. "D-don't do that sire. You shouldn't give up" The king just moved away from the mollusk and made his way to the front door. "S-sire...wh-where are you going?" Escargoon asked nervously and now very concerned.

"I don't know. Maybe leave this town for a while. If I ain't needed round here then why even stay. They got Kirby...I-...I just need to just be away from everythin...And everyone... So don't follow me."the king spoke in a depressed voice as he walked up to the door in the front of his castle. He put his hand on the door but not before he felt something grabbing onto his robe.

"Y-you can't go! Y-you can't just leave me here sire!"

Escargoon yelled out as he clinged onto his robe in tears. King Dedede's eyes widened at this he felt himself start to tear up more. "If you are going to leave you have to take me with you! I-I don't know what we'll do if we leave this place but I don't care if we leave everything behind! J-just take me with you sire!" Escargoon yelped out his voice kind of sounding choked up from crying. King Dedede's shoulders tensed up, his back still turned from Escargoon. He didn't make a sound. "Please sire without you I'm incomplete, I-i feel like nothing! I can't b-be without you! They have no idea what there doing not respecting you! I-I respect you! I care about you! I love you!" Escargoon spouted out every thought in his mind. Not even thinking twice about what he had said. He just kept holding on to him.

In only a moment Escargoon felt something hug him tightly. "I'm sorry I'm freaking out....I-i shouldn't drag ya down with me Goonie thats the only reason I didn't wanna make you come with me." The king hugged Escargoon tightly as he spoke, tears falling from his eyes not being able to hold in the pain he was feeling. "Y-your not dragging me down sire...I-i want to be with you, I want to stay with you..." Escargoon hugged back as he explained to him. He never wanted to leave the king. "I-i don't want to ever leave you either goon....In fact-" "He stood up a bit holding both of his hands in his own.

"Lets make a vow. To never be apart ever again. Right here,right now." The king said staring into Escargoons eyes, tears still falling but not with a frown. Rather a sweet smile. Escargoon felt his heart start pound fast, his cheeks getting hotter. He couldn't believe what was happening. "Y-yes I agree. Lets never separate from each other. Lets always be together! I want nothing more king." Escargoon said still choked up but now smiling as well. King Dedede smiled bigger and started to laugh a little as he picked up his servant. "Lets never forget bout dat. So ya stuck with me forevah!" still smiling big as he held him in his arms. Escargoon held onto him tightly. "I won't forget. I never will ya big softie~" Escargoon said snuggling up onto him. "Also one more thing Goonie..." King Dedede said as he pulled him really close.

"I love you too~"

Escargoons eyes widened once again, his face flushed pure dark purple. King Dedede kissed him on the cheek before speaking once more. "Now come on. Its late... You gon come and sleep next to me tonight." Escargoon looked up at him and blushed as hard as he physically could. "O-ok dedede....Th-thank you..." King Dedede started to walk off to his room Escargoon in hand. "No-no...thank you...Thank you so much.."


Cuts back to the present


Escargoon opened his eyes smiling lightly remembering the night. At that moment all he wanted to do was see Dedede. He missed him too much. The promise they had made only fueled his loneliness. "Oh sire please come home...You didn't forget about our vow did you...." Escargoon held himself a bit before hearing a door open and a familiar voice call out.

"I didn't forget."

Escargoon quickly turned around too see King Dedede back home, safe and sound...Accept for a scrape or two from trying to chase Kirby. "S-sire! Your home! Glad too see you are alright." King Dedede just walked up too him and hugged him. This surprised the mollusk. "I missed ya too. I'm glad to see you too" Escargoon hugged back and smiled big. What more could he ask for. He was safe and he was loved. Life was good at that moment. Nothing for him could change that. Nothing.
