dakota's pov:

his voice was low and husky but sounded joyful, it was like honey.

"hi," i spoke shyly but smiled.

"you know, dakota, we've lived next to each other for years but we haven't ever talked, by all accounts we should be best friends or dating by now." he chuckled.

"it does seem like a wasted opportunity, maybe i didn't realize your best friend potential." i bantered back, hoping he'd catch my joke. he raised his eyebrows and grinned, he got it.

"oh so my neighbor is cute and funny," he poked fun at me. "i really dropped the ball so far."

i laughed back, filling the comfortable silence with happy energy. he sighed and winked at me.

"okay now that i got you to open your window to talk to me, i'd like to get to know the girl who's lived next to me forever, tell me about yourself."

"well there's not much to say, i go to school and come home everyday nothing too interesting." i shrugged off the question. i really couldn't point out anything interesting about myself if i tried. it was evident he didn't like this answer and opened his mouth to protest.

"i know that's not true, keep in mind i can see and hear you in that room every day," he licked his lips and continued. "there's more than that dakota come on."

"well i-" our conversation was interrupted by grayson bursting into ethan's room.

he noticed the open window and looked at me. ethan turned around nonchalantly looking at his twin who seemed taken back about what was going on.

"yeah gray? what's up?" he asked.

"mom's home and wants to talk to you downstairs, i'll tell her you're busy."  he smiled and winked at me. ethan turned around suddenly looking more serious.

"this conversation isn't over, i hope you know i'm serious about wanting to get to know you." the serious face he had suddenly turned into a shy smile.

"i get it don't worry ethan," i reassured him. "we have plenty of time to talk."

we both smiled at each other for a little too long which caused grayson to clear his throat trying to get our attention.

"it was nice meeting you dakota." grayson smiled as ethan closed the window and walked out of the room. not before shooting me another smile of course.

i closed my window and tried to collect my thoughts. what just happened? ethan just told me he wanted to get to know me. i was honestly shocked, i guess after living next to someone that hot and never making a move made it hard to believe they'd want to get to know you.

i tried to go back to cleaning up my room but couldn't get the butterflies in my stomach to go away. eventually at 11pm , seeing no sign of ethan back in his room, i called it a night and let the days events play out in my dreams.
