Darkness himself, watches Mallory peacefully sleep. If he had chosen the light, he would have been matched up with this pathetic being, forced to watch out for her, and protect her.
Tynan; the fallen angel.
He went for the dark side, instead of the light though. So now, his people would consider him more of a demon, rather then an angel at all.
Ever since he found out about Mallory, he had to see this woman. The woman that the Father angles thought he would make a great match with. He refused to believe them then, and he is quite content with his decision. This woman is nothing.
And she clearly isn’t in any danger, he thought.
The head honchos are idiots, I’m so glad that I’m not under their orders anymore. He places a scowl on his face, and turns around, ready to jump out of Mallory’s bedroom window. Which is how he managed to enter as well. He had one leg out of the window, when Mallory said something that made him stop dead in his tracks.
“Tynan.” She moaned, more in question then anything else.
Tynan looks closely at the still figure lying in the bed, his leg still hanging out of the window.
Her eyes are closed.
Her breathing is normal.
She’s still asleep, he realizes.
He shakes is head in frustration, and swings his other leg over the window ledge. Pushing off of it, he lands six feet below the window, and on the firm ground.
He trudges through the darkness, not caring about being seen. Who cares, anyways? It’s not like the humans can tell that I am different from them. I don’t have wings anymore, since I’ve chosen the dark rather then the light. I half expected to have horns, actually. Being a demon and all.
I suppose it’s because I’m not a born demon.
So now I just have the title, and I still have angel blood in me; it’s just rotten.
Instead of pure.
Pure is over-rated anyways, he sneered.
Right away, Mallory popped into his head.
She is pure.
Her red, wavy hair. The dark freckles that compliment her skin tone. Her vibrant, green eyes. The way that she talked to her customers all night, and how she avoided the perverted glares of the men all around her. She is completely oblivious to the effect that she has on these human men. She talks to them as if they aren’t undressing her with their eyes.
It’s like she doesn’t even know.
How naïve.
Tynan makes his way back to the cheap hotel he had paid generously to stay in for a month. He didn’t know what had made him pay ahead for a whole month; he didn’t think that he had wanted to stay in this city for that long. But something pulled at his gut when the over weight, balding receptionist had asked him.
“How long?” He grunted.
“A night.” Tynan had replied.
“That’s sixty dollars.” He said, greedily.
And then he felt the pull.
He had to stay longer.
“Make that a month.” He surprised the greedy receptionist with his sudden change of mind.
“A month it is. Pay up.” He said, gesturing with his hand for Tynan to place his money in it.
And Tynan had obliged.
He now sits on the rutty old mattress in his room, wondering why this woman is so special? Surely she is nothing special to him, but the Father angels had thought her something extraordinary. How can this be so? She’s only a human.
How did she know my name? Tynan questioned himself.
She hadn’t even known that I was there…
But somehow, in her sleep, she had managed to speak my name. It’s almost as if she knew I was there, and was saying my name in a plea, so that I wouldn’t leave her.
But that’s just ridiculous. He thought to himself, and finally gave up on pondering, and lay his head down on the sweat stained pillow.

Mallory awoke that afternoon with the strangest sense of bewilderment. She stood up and walked to her little kitchen, holding onto the counter sides for stability. She felt dizzy and lightheaded. Looking into the microwave glass, she notices the deep, dark bags under her eyes.
Did she not sleep well?
She had thought that she had.
She hadn’t woken once during her night- long slumber.
So why the unease?
Mallory decided on a long, hot and soothing bath in hopes of making herself feel better before work.

That night at work, it went snail-like slow.
It was like a snail trying to move, but stuck in molasses.
Mallory inwardly groaned as she considered how many more hours there were until her shift would be over.
Three more hours.
“Hey lady!” An unknown voice yells across the bar, snapping Mallory’s attention back to reality.
She makes her way over to the right side of the bar, acknowledging the customer.
“What can I get for you?” She asks.
“Well… I was going to just ask for a beer. But since you took so long, howa’ bout your number instead?” The man was slimy and cocky. One of the ‘Tempter’s Haven’s’ regular customers.
In other words, a drunk.
“Sorry, but I have a boyfriend. I’ll go get you that beer.” She said, turning around to grab his beer. A second later, she came back to the man, serving his beer.
Mallory set the beer in front of him, and the man courageously grabbed her by the wrist. His grasp is firm, and she is forced to look the man in the eyes.
His eyes are muddy brown, surrounded by red. His face is unshaven, and his hair is grown out to his ears. His teeth are yellow, and unpleasant.
“How about we skip the number, and go straight to my place then, sweet pea?” His breath smells of rot and alcohol, and his grip on her tightens as she tries to pull away.
Mallory starts to feel a sense of panic.
Where is Matt, the other bartender, when I need him? She quickly thought to herself.
“Excuse me.” A male voice grabs Mallory’s attention, and she looks up to see a large man behind the vulgar customer, poking at his back.
The customer turns around, not letting go of her wrist in the process.
Dammit. She cursed.
When she looked up, and into the interrupter’s eyes, she immediately knew that she was in more danger now.
More then she had ever been in.
